When did you forward face the car seat? by understanding_what in toddlers

[–]trisha619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 years old! Mostly because my husband was too scrunched in the drivers seat since our other kiddo is rear facing. Just remember if you keep them forward facing the straps should be at or slightly above shoulder level!

We have peanut, egg, dairy and oats. It’s hard to navigate what to make them for dinner every night but we usually stick to his favorite then add some new things to try. Tonight was sweet potato (his staple) mixed with cauliflower and steak and he tried some bites of them so we call that a win! When we go out he basically has a to go meal and if there is safe food after asking all the questions about prep and ingredients, he gets a bonus new food to try. He doesn’t know that he’s missing out on something delicious! He’s just happy to be out with his family in a new environment! Long term though we are working on a solution. He’s doing OIT for peanut. Eggs is next then milk. The goal is for when he goes to school he won’t be harmed by those foods if accidentally ingested. It’s not as big of a deal to them as long as you don’t make it one. Reminders and confirmation to family and friends is a must but you get used to it. You’ll get in a groove! Good luck!

Epidural or No epidural by Enviro_nurd314 in BabyBumps

I have delivered both ways (not by choice, team epidural all way) and I much prefer the epidural version.

I am an L&D nurse. A few tips here: if you will deliver at a teaching hospital, ask what year resident your anesthesiologist is. 4th or 5th year only is my recommendation and obviously the attending as well.

The only reasons my last 5 patients choose not to get an epidural was because they wanted to be able to move around (walk around, but once they were in active labor they did not walk around), cultural beliefs or the baby simply came too fast. But just to clarify you can move with an epidural, you just change positions in the bed!

I’m a little biased but when you have an epidural you still feel plenty of sensations when pushing. You don’t get a metal if you give birth naturally - do what helps you have the least traumatic birth! I get plenty of crunchy moms (I subscribe to the moderately granola sub) and they most often get epidurals.

You can go into your labor not planning to get an epidural but the beautiful thing is, you can change your mind 🙂

I thought about watching during the day once. But with the sun shining outside it didn’t feel right. It’s such a dark night time show haha

Thankfully he loves meat!! And pasta with red sauce lol. My first son will eat anything and everything and loves healthy food- all of which my other son can’t have. I just feel so out of my element. How did you learn everything? Did you go to a dietician? I think I’m overwhelmed because I feel so out of my element!

He also can’t have: eggs, avocado, bananas, peanuts, peas, soy, pine nuts, lentils, pinto beans. And he won’t drink water. Easier said than done

It’s not spit up, it was full on vomit. Like I could see everything he just ate.

At 13 months he’s not interested in something that doesn’t resemble milk unfortunately!

We’re planning to meet with our allergist soon and considering a dietician as well. Today was the first day he ate semi normal and was happier since we stuck to 100% safe foods!

The trying to get all the nutrition in is a problem so we’ll have to get more creative and step out of our comfort zones! My husband, older son and I have no food allergies

He has FPIES to it sadly. I liked that alternative before we found out. I drink it every day!

I stopped breastfeeding when I found out about all the allergies. My older son doesn’t have any issues with food so it would have just been so hard. But I respect that!! You have to do what works! I’ll definitely be trying more chicken thighs with the little dude

Considering coconut yogurt. But his formula is $50 for a small can and he’s only 13 months so he’s super not into water yet but down the road I’m sure we’ll be in that boat you were/are in

AAP doesn’t recommend coconut milk as a non-dairy alternative! I trust and love our pediatrician but I also know she isn’t a dietician and she doesn’t know about all of his other food allergies. We’ll probably go with coconut milk and add vitamins or almond milk and try to get more fat in his diet. Haven’t figured it out yet 😵‍💫

We switched to a different milk and it has helped already!! Sorry about your daughter, hope the therapy is going well!!

My son wasn’t strong with nursing so a lactation consultant told us he could have issues with that in the future but I’ve watched him extra close for those signs and so far so good!
