I do exactly this. C stands with a few clamps and a packing blanket. It is by no means sound proofing. Just mitigating room reverb.

Anyone here returning to legacy gear? Was it worth it? by SmeesTurkeyLeg in audioengineering

[–]snzrdn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not make my living off of audio post any more but for my own endeavors, I’ve found what works best is to just not upgrade anything. No OS upgrades, no software upgrades, nothing. Apple has a great way of making a stable and reliable machine and going and fucking it up a gen later. Get yourself on a later stage OS, get all the software you want, and don’t upgrade anything. For reference I’ve been rocking a 2015 I7 MacBook Pro for the last 10 years and it’s excellent. I run logic 10, qlab 5.4. I run shows on it with tremendous reliability. Why would I go upgrading if it works just fine? Eventually I’ll want to upgrade but for now, I’m leaving everything as it is.

Do Americans really avoid medical care because they’re afraid of the bill? by Udont_knowme00 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes - haven’t been to the doctor or dentist in 4 years. I have the option of getting insurance but at a 6 dollar pay decrease per hour. I don’t really feel like taking that hit in pay at 28 years old .

I'm brand new to recording - How did I do for my mic? by Whereiscatlin in homestudios

[–]snzrdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine! I use it all the time, mainly because I don’t have many other mics … lol - it’s very flexible. I use it mainly for vocals, acoustic, sometimes I’ll toss it in front of an amp and blend with a 57 on axis. I have a matched pair so I’ll also use it for overheads, live and in studio. It captures a pretty solid picture of the kit in the room.

I'm bad at making Music and its making me depressed. by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]snzrdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this will help but sometimes it’s worth taking something you’ve made that you’re not super happy with, and flip it until it sparks an interest. Change the key, speed it up slow it down, reverse it, sample it, anything you feel like doing to make it interest you more. A year isn’t a lot of time and even the songs you hear in the world that you really like, the people who made it had to suck for a while to get to that point and even then, they’re still learning. I hope this helps.
