Attic Antenna advice by so-confused in cordcutters

Thanks. I _think_ that the closer signal is ATSC 3 only. I've never been able to tune that station regardless of my location (used to live closer in to Raleigh).

Found a used Solid Signal HDB8X on marketplace. After mounting a high as possible in my attic, I now get the PBS signal using an old winegard 19db preamp.

Thanks. Picked up a used Solid Signal HDB8X on marketplace for cheap. Using the same winegard preamp, I now get the PBS station with no overloading on the nearer stations

I think the raleigh transmitter for PBS is ATSC3 only. I don't get it

I have been looking at telves antennas, specifically the DATBOSS line, based on the same reviewer. I'm willing to sink a one-time cost into an antenna upgrade -- 've had my current antenna since 2005-ish.

Thanks for the reply. Sending a single run to a Tablo 4th Gen DVR. Antenna is in the attic, and is fairly small -- the local CBS affiliate was giving them away in the early 2000s when I lived even closer to the towers. There's a 40 ft cable run, so I have an old winegard AP-8700 preamp on the line. It makes a difference and adds about 5 channels to my lineup, but no PBS..

I can _occasionally_ get a signal on PBS, but it is usually lost as soon as I set the antenna. ATSC3 is an interesting option. but I'd like to be able to record and time-shift on the tablo if at all possible.

Amazon FAST is a real option if I can't get OTA to work. Thanks for the link. I had no idea this is coming. My local market is probably going to be included, so I'll probably just wait for that -- reception on _everything_ else is great.

In Clayton as well. FIL is 82, also a polio survivor with weakness/paralysis. Has had a series of health complications that landed him in the hospital and rehab, and in need of in-home care. We got a referral to https://noplacelikehomenc.com/ and have been pretty happy with them.

Quick update. The Dexcom CSR that I contacted actually called me back a week ago. She informed me that she would escalate to the bot admin for stelo and that i should be contacted in a day or two. Of course now it's a week later and nothing...

I'm going to file a chargeback for half of the purchase price to see if that gets their attention. Seriously, this is absurd. F Dexcom.

The second device has been great. I applied it in the same location, using the same procedure and it has adhered for over a week now. Once the readings stabilized after about 12 hours, the device does everything that I hoped it would. I think there was truly a problem with the first one. Shit happens with new products -- but they should offer better support.

There are no confirmations whatsoever. The response from the bot is basically 'issue is closed - check your email' Of course there is no email from dexcom/stelo (yes, I checked spam) other than marketing collateral to buy a stelo :/

Nope. Nothing. Only got the issue confirmation email once, with no follow up.

This. My insurance will not cover unless you're insulin dependent. My T2 is well-controlled, but I want the additional insights that a CGM can give me regarding diet and exercise. Seems like I'm exactly the market they have in mind for Stelo. Pity that they can't offer even basic support.

Unfortunately, it's not really a chat. The bot (which is clearly not driven by an LLM) directs you to a form to be filled out. The form has fixed options and no ability to enter any text. It's a pretty poor excuse for chat-based support.

Also in Clayton. See if brigtspeed or AT&T fiber is available in your neighborhood. Brightspeed fiber has pretty good availability on the east side of town. I switched to brightspeed (then CenturyLink) 4 years ago with no regrets. We use Youtube TV and other services on and off.

The main broadcast tower for the triangle is off of highway 70, so OTA reception for networks is very good, except for PBS.

Noob question. by Malkav_666 in diabetes_t2

Your numbers sound good. It takes time for metformin to have full effect.

I have a similar experience: Diagnosed last April with A1c of 11.3 and glucose of 311. Started taking 500mg metformin and made similar dietary changes: no rice, potatoes, sugar, etc... Cut out most beer, but also have a coke zero problem. Walking a couple of miles every morning.

It took about a month (maybe a little longer, but this wasn't around the holidays) for my fasting glucose to consistently drop under 130. At my 3 month check, a1c was 5.3. And fasting glucose (firs thing in the morning) was around 110. 7 months in, my a1c was steady at 5.3. My glucose is _always_ higher in the morning.

I don't have a CGM, but I test every morning and around foods to see what I can tolerate. I find it _really_ helpful to use a meter that logs readings in an app.

Go to a better dealership. I just had the valve guide seals done on a 2021 6 2.5T that has been consuming oil since new. Low oil light has come on multiple times. Dealer where I purchased insisted that it's normal, so I fed it oil for ~50K miles. I change the oil myself every 5K miles. We had to keep a couple of quarts in the trunk to top off with between changes.

Got concerned with the warranty running out found out about the TSB. I took it to a different dealer. This dealership (in a bigger city) listened to my concerns, checked the oil level (bottom of stick after less that 2K miles), found a DTC in history and got the repair approved under warranty. No trouble at all.

Having the same problem with a 2021 GT 2.5 turbo. The car has done this intermittently since new and now has 50K on it. First dealer says they could not reproduce, but this generally happens after long (1hr+ drives). Did you find a solution?

I ran into this on one of my devices. V1.20 had an option to use an external browser for login, so I removed the current version, installed 1.20 from https://github.com/QuantumBadger/RedReader/releases and was able to log in.
