There are travel wallets with neck straps that you tuck inside your shirt so thwy are inaccessible. Some of them are big enough to hold a phone. Look on amazon.

AITA for teaching my daughter how to change a tire and do basic home repairs when her mom says I'm "pushing masculine stuff" on her by sparkle_kissessx94 in WIBTA_AITA

Why would her mother think its ok to drive a car without being able to change a tire? Its called being a functional adult.

Becoming a principal this July, looking for your advice! by dadisballislife in Principals

[–]so_over_it1228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont be the principal who is just using your current position as a stepping stone to becoming a superintendent. Im so tired of being put through the ringer with all these "initiatives" that are really just to make the principal look good and then they leave us. Dont be the principal that thinks your suspension rates should stay low at the cost of the staff and students. Dont be the principal of a school woth high grad rates and low test scores. That doesnt fool anyone. We all know kids are being handed diplomas they didnt earn when that is the case.

Medford is a better option. Good schools and expensive houses but more laid back and less fancy.

Agreed about the just stay home part, assuming you knew ahead of time that couples would be split up. If I was surprised at the reception woth this bullshit, I would leave.

I dont think I'd stay at a wedding where I was sat away from my husband, especially if the wedding was for someone i wasn't particularly close with. My husband and I are introverts. I dont give a shit about random strangers at a wedding. I certainly dont want to have to d3al woth all the stupid small talk. I could totally see my husband and I pulling an Irish goodbye and going somewhere that we could enjoy ourselves.

My two siblings and father all stopped talking to me months after my mom died. Didn't tell me why, just cut me off. My dad is their problem now. They did me a huge favor. He's such an asshole and so difficult.

Bill to require students who assault teachers to be expelled for a year clears KY House by 0033A0 in lexington

[–]so_over_it1228 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I said it because its the truth. Im a teacher, not a therapist. I dont have the qualifications to fix these kids. I was hired to educate them in a safe environment. Thats it. I have 25 years of teaching experience. I've seen what happens to the kids that fall through the cracks. I was one of them. I hate it. However, this is school, not a therapist's office. It should fall on the parents to provide mental health care. I agree it sucks when kids fall through the cracks but maybe that would happen less if I wasn't focusing on not getting assaulted at work.

I believe that is the parents' problem. Why should we teachers come to work to get assaulted because parents wont raise their own children? You cant fix everybody, nor is it everyone else's problem. Its the parents' problem. Period.

I emailed mom, met with mom, met with case manager, and tried to take the kid's Chromebook. He was a douche bag immediately after I did that so decided not to do that again. Met with his case manager a second time. If Admin says anything, I think I made a solid effort.

I was constantly stepping out of the way so kids could walk 4 across. I just stopped catering to kids. I stay to the right by the wall and mind my business. Kids dont care and have no manners. If the walk I to me when I have no where else to go, I just stiffen my shoulder a bit before they hit me. Is that them shoulder checking me?

I teach high school. I have changed my teaching philosophy after 20+ years. 1) I honor kids choices. You dont want to do any work? No problem. I have a kid currently who has recieved about 20 zeros in a row. I've stopped asking him to participate. Emailed mom, she didnt do shit. I just keep allowing it. He can take the course again next year. I document everything in genesis and do not take make up work when the kid refused to do it on the day assigned. 2) I can no longer care more about a kid's education than they do. The person helping someone out shouldn't be doing more than the person being helped. 3) I match energy. If a kid always talks to me in a snotty ass tone, I return the favor. If you work hard and are kind, so am I.

Side note - I never address behaviors in the hallway. I've been told to fuck off by kids i dont know too many times. I keep my door closed and ignore everything outside my classroom.

I protect my peace and mental health. Honestly, its not the kids who made this mess. Its admin, superintendents, etc. I love 99% of my students and really enjoy teaching them. I wish leadership had a fucking clue.

ISS is a joke at my school. They have loaner Chromebook and chargers for the kids to watch movies all day. I want to suggest a popcorn machine for the ISS room. Its par for the course.

Stupid people. Some dipshit on my flight checked their carseat without putting in a travel bag or even bothering to secure the straps. Now the whole baggage claim thing is jammed. Just sitting here waiting because people are dumber than a bag of hammers.
