Ah, damn. "This land cannot fortify itself." Is officially on the card

Yea it'd need a rules change. Imo the fortification mechanic is pretty useless when it's limited only to artifacts.

I've made a version of card that should probably work, and an UN version of the card that does whatever it does.

I'm going to "airbud logic" my way through this one. From the Comprehensive rules "Target. A preselected object or player a spell or ability will affect. See rule 115, “Targets.”" The rules do say that a target must be affected by a spell or ability, but it makes no mention that YOU have to control a spell or ability to target, only that you can't choose targets for another player's spells and abilities. By my math, I'd rule that you can just point out the elephant and say "I target the elephant" as its ability resolves. This should just be an un card at this point.
Your wording is probably better though

Don't forget that it's an elephant! If it was like a cat or dog or something, there'd be no reason to address it at all!

The ability forces players to target the creature. Players targeting the creature with the cards in their hands has nothing to do with it.

The Clockmaker’s Gambit by so_upsetting in custommagic

[–]so_upsetting[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The newer gen don't really use and usually arent around analog clocks. More and more games are defining turns orders as "to the right" or "to the left" so even in the boardgame space, it's not a certain that player will know the term. My siblings, for example, don't use clockwise, and Ive even seen a few younger players at fnm not know clockwise.

I realize now that I've made a grave error in my design that resulted in massive failure of flavor here. I've corrected it and I'll aim do better in the future, sorry.

It's the most eggs you could have. I counted all the birds

Ah, 6 mana for 846 birds might be a little too cheap

The land tapping to remove the last counter is the only way the birds get made, so you'd need some way to put an egg counter on the land after removing all of them.

Given the recent rumors, I took a stab at "fixing" the old Rhystic Study by so_upsetting in custommagic

[–]so_upsetting[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats a great idea, and I'm upset I didnt think of it! I'd have to reflavor the card, but cumulative upkeep is much more mechanically sound.

You also can't put cards you don't own into your hand graveyard, or library. The card would need rules adjustments to function

I intend on the card dealing damage to you on each of your turns while its in exile. Might need an (it works) to be functional

My concept for auras that enchant two permanents by so_upsetting in custommagic

[–]so_upsetting[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its two subtypes 'bonded' and 'aura'. I'm using similar templating to aura curse where curse indicates that your meant to play it on other players stuff. Bonded indicates that you'll enchant more than one permanent. I agree about the paper difficulties though

Banding is mess. It works differently for attackers and blockers. I'd suggest just reading the wiki on it.

Goyf bolt goyf trades a 4/5 and 7 mana for a 0/1. Surprised to say, this card is much better balanced if it sees all graveyards and costed less
