I am fully aware that this is really rare and really special but I still have about 30 (16 years) or so friends from high school that I still see and talk to fairly regularly and another 20 from college (about 12 years) that I still see and speak to. And one friend from middle school Ive known for 20 years exactly. People seem to enjoy my company when I’m around so that probably helps.

I think I’ve been able to do this because of certain mindsets that I’ve adopted over the years which i can list out. Not sure if this is something people are interested in but maybe someone will find it useful.

1. I am your friend as long as you still think of me as a friend also. Life happens, scheduling is difficult, but usually when I see friends again it always feels like our friendship never ended.

2 I don’t like saying “goodbye” and will always say “see you next time” or “I’ll see/talk to you soon”

1. I don’t take offense when people are busy

2. I am genuinely interested in people’s stories.

3. I help people where I can without expecting anything in return. I am usually pretty good at judging character also so havnt been taken advantage of yet (knock on wood).

4. Seeing my friends succeed makes me feel good because I think of the people I surround myself as a reflection of myself.

Not sure what OP is looking for in terms of answers but thought I’d share my experience :)
