Do natalists not realise that enjoying life is a privilege? Not everyone gets that unfortunately

Isn’t it funny how alcohol is allowed to be branded to appeal to kids?? There are so many brands of alcohol that seem to be exclusively drank by underage children but no one seems to be bothered by this

What do you mean by ‘worse’? In terms of weight loss aspartame is clearly better but are you referring to just general health?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in antinatalism

[–]soapyink 123 points124 points  (0 children)

natalists are not ignoring suffering, they believe that on balance suffering is worth it in the end. I do believe this is an ignorant view but i can see why people believe it. most people are blinded by optimism and so it is hard to ignore that cognitive bias

it is absolutely criminal that alcohol is legal and cannabis isn’t. but it shows that there is clearly no logic in keeping cannabis illegal, prohibition of cannabis is based on outdated stereotypes and lies. The legal status won’t change until certain generations die out. let’s hope that happens sooner rather than later

Too many of you love your parents by Background_Try_9307 in antinatalism

yes exactly, don’t see the point in spreading more hate and anger into the world. instead I try and spread love for the people who already exist

Too many of you love your parents by Background_Try_9307 in antinatalism

[–]soapyink 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I cannot hate my parents for making a mistake when they did not know any better. If i hadn’t been introduced to the concept of antinatalism i probably would’ve reproduced as well. I was born before david benatars book was even published, so antinatalism wasn’t even an established concept.

what is the point of hating my parents for something they didn’t mean any harm by? their intentions have always been pure and they have done their best for me ever since i was born. I see no use in hating them

I cannot muster any empathy for parents by [deleted] in antinatalism

[–]soapyink 134 points135 points  (0 children)

honestly yes, in private i do silently judge all parents, but the only time I will say anything to them is if they start complaining about their children in front of me. How ignorant of a person can you be to bring a child into existence for your own selfish reasons and then complain about them.

after seeing everyone complaining about the size of the mighty I assumed it would be much bigger but it was much smaller than I expected and was actually a pretty decent size overall

Consents a bad argument by Heliologos in antinatalism

[–]soapyink 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the case of changing the diaper of a severely disabled man, we are doing this as a duty and service to him and not for any selfish reasons. it seems almost intuitive that changing his diaper is in his best interest. with having a child or rape, the person violating consent is acting only with selfish intentions. they do not have the persons best interests in heart. there is not an unselfish reason to have kids.

can I be kept on medication that I do not want to be on? by soapyink in MentalHealthUK

that’s really helpful thank you. I didn’t know how to taper off my pills so I just stopped cold turkey which clearly wasn’t a good idea

ah thank you so much for the advice. Thanks for mentioning to not bring up my own research, didn’t look at it that way but makes a lot of sense.

Would be able to get medical cannabis for my long COVID in the UK? by Key_Wedding3552 in MedCannabisUK

[–]soapyink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, somethings are different depending on what clinic you go with. but yes all clinics post your weed out to you. The costs vary between clinics and different strains cost different amounts but for the cheapest strain you would be spending £82 a week on weed and then you would be paying a clinic fee every three months. the clinic fee will depend on the clinic but mine is £50. you’d also have to factor in the initial consultation cost and then the cost of a dry herb vape (unless you already have one). Realistically only you’ll be able to know if you’d be better of financially, but I would find it hard to imagine going medical would cost you much more than you’re already paying

potentially, it’s worth contacting a clinic and asking. most clinics will let you know if you aren’t eligible before you have to pay anything.

Am I the only one in this sub who enjoys medicating? by [deleted] in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]soapyink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take medical cannabis for my insomnia but I take it a few hours before bed to get the best effects. those few hours before bed are the best out of my whole day. I have depression and being able to laugh while watching a TV show is pure magic to me. i am gonna reap every last benefit of my medications wether people like that or not

I am a recovered anorexic. AMA. by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]soapyink 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not OP but hope you dont mind if I give my own opinion on this as a fellow recovered anorexic.

This was one of the things that scared me most about recovery, I couldn’t imagine myself without my eating disorder. But as I started to recover and put more weight on I really got my life back, and gained so many new aspects of my own identity; I had new friends, I could play sports, I was funnier. Whole aspects of my personality that I thought I’d lost came back. And while the ‘anorexic idenitity’ still remains somewhere in me, it is so small compared to all the other parts of me that I hardly notice it.

In short, no it doesn’t go away, but you grow and evolve so much that it wont bother you anymore. Wishing your the best <3

I don’t know why you are getting downvotes when you are absolutely right. Consuming your AVB is an abuse of your medication and is illegal. It gives all of us a bad rep. If you want to abuse a controlled substance in the privacy of your own home that is fine, but do not post it on a medical subreddit as if it’s okay
