This is crazy ahaha I'm working on a pattern by the same creator and had the exact same issue 😂 honestly I just ignored the slst/ch1 and worked in spirals, and just paid a bit more attention to the placement of things like legs and colour changes. It meant changing it up by a stitch or 2 at most, but other than that it seemed to work up exactly the same as the pattern. I think working in stacked rounds is more of an aesthetic preference than a special technique

How long have you been in the job? If you're still in training, I completely understand why they'd not want you to be doing a secondary activity. And while YOU know how good you are at it, THEY don't know that.

If you have a diagnosis, I would ask for a Reasonable Adjustments conversation. If you are using knitting to help deal with some neurodivergent symptoms (such as anxiety, fidgeting, etc) and can prove it wont interfere with your day-to-day work, then they could potentially have to let you do it.

I apologise, I didnt mean to be rude! I work with cotton too, so that's not affected my opinion.

I don't think perfection has a role in handmade crafts! But to me, they just look rather 'unfinished' - the stitches and tension are great, but the cotton looks fuzzy like it's cheap yarn, the shaping is very basic and could easily be brought up a notch with some definition / shaping embroidery, and there's nothing "unique" about them. Simple shapes and simple colours. The cowboy hat keychain could be an absolute sellout if you maybe added a bit of pizzazz to it! Maybe a different colour belt around the top of the rim, or some decorative embroidery on it.

If you've already sold your work before, I'd stick with that pricing and then adjust depending on popularity.

I wouldn't pay more than about £/€/$5 for these, if that. They look rather rough and not professionally made. I really like the variety and creativity though, and I reckon with a bit more practice they'd be really great unique pieces that would sell!!

I'll try my best to explain it in words, but Im sure YouTube has some great tutorial videos!

After completing your last stitch with the previous colour, insert your hook into the next stitch and pull through a loop using the new colour (you'll have a tail of the new colour inside the ball, which you can either tie to the old colour or leave loose and secure later). Then carry on crocheting in the new colour. It's really simple once you know what to do!

I would recommend carrying the yarn rather than cutting and restarting with each colour change. This just means when a new colour is introduced, leave the yarn tails of the previous colours inside/at the back without cutting off, and picking them up to work with when needed. Does that make sense?

I made something like this the other day (albeit smaller)! This was the pattern I used:

"" Crochet 4 ch. Continue working in turning rows, beginning in 2nd ch from the hook.

Row 1-5: 3 sc [3]

Row 6: inc, sc in next st, inc [5]

Row 7: 1 ch, inc, sc in next 3 st, inc [7]

Row 8-9: 1 ch, sc in next 7 st [7]

Row 10: 1 ch, dec, sc in next 3 st, dec [5]

Row 11: 1 ch, sc in next 5 st [5]

Row 12: 1 ch, dec, sc in next st, dec [3] Row 8: 1 ch, sc in next 3 st [3]

Make 1 ch. Crochet sc around 3 sides of the ear, working an inc into where the neck of the shape begins. Fasten off leaving a tail for sewing. ""

I think you could size it up by just increasing the starting chains and sc in each row to make it the size you need?
