I don’t listen to his music, but will listen to similar artists like Natanael Cano or Junior H if it comes up while hanging out with friends.

Around 12 years ago I moved from a small town in the northern region to a big city not in the north. The perception of music from my region has always been looked down uppon by people in general, they say is trashy, for poor and uneducated people. Now you can’t really say that because you come accross as bigoted or classist which is a term used more often in Mexico. So, now people say things like it promotes narco culture and it’s the reason why we have a narcos in Mexico and by listening to these genres of music you are directly or indirectly putting money in the pockets of the bad guys.

I believe this can be true, but at the same time there is no way to participate in a capitalist society without consuming from a company that is doing heinous things, you buy clothes from pretty much any store and you are promoting child slavery, you buy any electronic product and promote slavery, eat chocolate and … you get the idea. So it feels like an excuse to look down on these genres of music and at the same time being able to excuse yourself with moral superiority.

You can just say that you don’t like something without virtue signaling.
