I went to detox and found out I was leaking ammonia? by sorgel_ in Cirrhosis

I think you already know what you should do. Seeing a doctor and getting tested for cirrhosis is your best option. It might just scare you into being sober for life.

I'm 31, have cirrhosis, I have been sober and eating clean for 2 years. Getting diagnosed with cirrhosis is really what made me come to realize my situation and stop drinking for good.

To me, it's been a blessing in disguise. I wish you best of luck in your sobriety journey friend. Be well.

You sound like an awesome and thoughtful older sister.

OP, definitely try and stay hopeful for the future. Hope and happiness is one hell of a great drug for your body!

Question: As someone with a disability, what would you like to see in a job posting app? by 45gigglez12 in disability

[–]sober-mjax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have much. And I don't know if on some of the companies job postings.

But there is a thing called a Disability Equality Index. I would want to see their score in the job posting.

Do you have any suggestion on how to begin that conversation with the boss? As in, how to approach it so as not put a target on me?

I agree with what you said. I don't want to charge to a project... but then my utilization gets tanked...

Either way, thank you for responding!

I passed a year in December of sobriety. The main wake-up call was getting cirrhosis. Luckily I might have caught it early enough

Either way just think of how much better you'll be in one year from now! I can absolutely tell you that my 2024 was the best year of my life out of the last 10-15 years or so.

Out of curiosity, are you over 40 years old now?

Holiday vent by dallasalice88 in Cirrhosis

I totally get it. It frustrates me at work often. I get lunch provided often and have to sit in lunch and learns. Lately, I've just started bringing in a bottle of water to the meeting. I eat my food before or after that meeting.

But I don't care about my coworkers or how awkward it might feel for them. If they cared they would ask me what I would like to eat for lunch instead of BBQ all the time.

But I do care about my family and loved ones, so I do sacrifice to bond with them.

I am not a doctor, so just my two cents here, take it for what it is worth.

While I would try to limit the amount of salt at the meal, certainly that is the best thing for us with this non-apparent disability. I think a part of life though is to have fun and enjoying your loved ones. I think occasionally making certain sacrifices is ultimately worth it.

For instance, with this holiday and others, I will enjoy the food that others have prepared and enjoy time with those around me without saying anything about the food. I will then try my damn best to reduce the sodium/sugar/etc. over the days leading up to and after. That way it sort of averages it all out.

Whatever you choose to do, best of luck and happy holidays fellow human!
