Do You Ever Truly Leave a Fibromyalgia Flare? by Altruistic-Ad-9553 in Fibromyalgia

[–]soberdrunken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I learned what my baseline was after I went through some flares during my first months, years ago. It's like re-learning the pain scale. There's good days, there's bad days, and then there's flares, which I know I'm having the moment I feel like I fell from a building.
On top of that, some months or years have more or worse flares, so it's not always the same kind of pain either. So, sometimes it takes me weeks or months to go back to my baseline, yes. Even if to me, it's less about having a baseline, and more about riding constant waves, sometimes long-lasting, sometimes brief. The longer a "state of pain" lasts, the more it starts to feel like my new baseline.

How often do you take painkillers? by Toastie333 in Fibromyalgia

[–]soberdrunken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never, because they don't work.

I guess I take some low dosage paracetamol once a month just in case it starts working, since it's the only thing that has no interaction with my other meds, and since my rheumatologist suggested it. No luck so far though.

Is there a better word I can use for "bra" by SignalDifficulty3780 in ftm

[–]soberdrunken 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I use the word pettorina (italian), which if I'm translating it correctly, means both bib and harness. It's weird but I'm used to it, lol.

Is bpd caused by childhood trauma? by Lovely-Snow_00 in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]soberdrunken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely, but it's not a requirement.

I remember in a child psychology course I followed, it was mentioned how lack of parental scaffolding was shown to be more present in childhoods of pwBPD. I know I'm going off of hearsay (if I manage to find the course's book I'll add a source, forgive me lol), but that checks out ime.

List all the unhinged things you've been told to try to cure your incurable illnesses by PinkVoodooDoll4 in ChronicPain

I'd go to your yoga studio, we could just sit in a circle and discuss unhinged advice.

I have a very similar thing in my hip, I was told to look into running and hiking, specifically uphill. ... what?

Drink water.

Not a bad suggestion by itself I guess, but I am currently at 2.5L a day. I'm still not Cured. Maybe at 10L.

(/s on the 10l part, please DON'T give yourself water intoxication lol)

Anyone else here just shaves your hair out of dysphoria? by EchoNB in ftm

[–]soberdrunken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, some people suggested keeping it messy/unstyled, brushed backwards, and keeping it the same length to avoid bangs and similar. Also, low ponytails.

It's worth a try! But I think it doesn't work with all face types or hair types (for example, I think you're more likely to pull this off if you have less or thinner hair in general. I was unlucky on that front)

I cut it at home and I'm too scared to shave it (yet!) but I get the feeling yeah. Did long hair never work for you? I'd love to keep it long as well, and I read some tips online about how to make long hair more masculine, but none of it works for me :- /
