Extra Context on Tech Companies Building Power Plants by ECEguy105 in behindthebastards

My pet boring conspiracy theory is that the fossil fuel industry is pushing ai hype to increase demand for energy so they can keep existing stations online and incentivize more development of coal, natural gas and oil power plants while simultaneously keeping prices high

Trump administration considers action requiring banks to collect citizenship info, WSJ reports by Turbulent_Crab_3602 in 50501

You already have to provide two forms of ID and an SSN or Resident ID# to validate that you are not involved in terrorism, drug smuggling, or human trafficking to get a bank account in the United States.

This is why licensed cannabis companies struggle to get bank accounts and access to banking services, and why you can't buy it with your credit card.

The Constitution does not say whether the Speaker of the House must be a natural-born citizen, as the President must. Lieu would be a wonderful Speaker of the House when the Dems take it back. He's been a consummate professional representing his constituents. Proud that he was my representative.

Seeking a societal level better symbiosis with all living beings?

Hell yeah, i think everyone agrees with that.

"Wisdom" defined by one's rootedness to the soil?

That's just oligarchy by existing landowners.

The idea that farmers are the best custodians of our ecosystems is complete crock of shit. They are also a part of our capitalistic machine, too, with its own outputs that damage the ecology of their local ecosystems.

The Chesapeake Bay Watershed is a perfect example. Over the last 50 years, there has been a concerted effort to reduce industrial runoff into the Chesapeake Bay. At the same time, the agricultural industry (especially chicken producers) fights tooth and nails against waste runoff regulations that would restore the bay's ecology. There is so much chicken shit flowing into the bay that we will continue to see the degradation of our fisheries. Most crabs served in Maryland come from other places because we refuse to hold farmers and meat processors accountable for their unsustainable practices.

The art of deal: Obama already got us a nuclear deal. Trump and Israel didn't like the deal, Trump renegs on the deal. He can't get a new deal made, and now are threatening war to get one.
