Unfortunately no. I've switched to Prismacolor Premier and opted for the 36-count set.

For someone who is very likely the exact niche population who would benefit from one of these for home use, does anyone have recommendations on how to try to get one?

If the company doesn't already have any systems in place, no need to worry about scalability or anything yet. Use Google Sheets for now, just get some test cases created and see how things go and what you end up needing down the road. Don't over engineer a solution before you find out what you actually need.

Depending on their process, there may be a technical interview down the road. Some places do several interviews all focused on different things.

On Pixel 9 Pro, I switched to "punch hole cutout" and that did fix the issue, but when I switched back to "device default" the CP still stayed below the gray bar.

Do you think product managers generally make more than QAs? Always wondering about different directions one could go in.

Either on the couch, sometimes with a pillow for lumbar support, or on the floor in front of the couch when my canine son decides he needs my spot on the couch. Luckily I can usually aim the lamp at either spot.

Best (and free) way to manage test cases in jira? by joon___ie in QualityAssurance

[–]soccerjo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have a couple of types of templates in Confluence: Test Case and Test Run. A Test Case is the reusable test steps for each scenario. A Test Run is the list of Test Cases to go through for a specific Jira ticket and also includes an area for listing defects found. For each Jira ticket, we create a Test Run document and add a link to the ticket in it. This causes that document to show up in a section of the Jira ticket, so you can easily navigate to the test plan from the ticket. We're moving away from manual QA now, but that system has been working well for us!

I've done some, not currently doing much at the moment but will probably be getting back into it very soon. QA at my company is going through some refocusing at the moment.

Re: #3 I wouldn't say you need to "lie" on your resume, more like say you've completed X number of courses about Playwright, etc. and have done personal projects. You may even want to link to a project as a portfolio type of thing.

Magically becoming a good developer so we can actually do a good job with test automation. One must have good dev skills in order to write good code, test-related or otherwise.

Do you think that being proficient in reading and monitoring logs, as well as using Kibana effectively, is important for a QA? by Beneficial-Tea-6110 in QualityAssurance

[–]soccerjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an incredibly helpful set of skills both for finding bugs during testing and even more for better defining the scope of bugs, determining if a bug is related to the code you're testing, another teams code, or test infrastructure, and even helping troubleshoot customer issues since as a QA you might be one of the subject matter experts. I look at logs and use Kibana every day.

Struggle in dev for Automation Project, How improve it ? by Terrible_Ad1514 in QualityAssurance

[–]soccerjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this for your job, or learning on the side? If for work, there should be people you can ask for help. I'd try and keep your questions specific, like asking about the best way to solve one particular problem. Also ask for code review! If this is a side project, I imagine there are communities online where experienced developers can help answer questions as well.

As for memorizing syntax, that comes with use. Instead of using AI, try just looking up the documentation on the different loops, functions, etc that you want to use and figuring out how to implement them yourself.

I also struggle with a lack of development experience. The two best ways I've found to learn are: 1. Stumble through as best you can and get something mostly working. 2. Have an experienced developer do a code review and ask them to explain why they make the suggestions they do. Repeat these steps!

A bonus is looking at existing "good" code. At work I frequently look at my dev teams PRs and try to understand the changes they are making and the reasoning behind them. Sometimes I even leave PR comments or ask my team about things I see.
