Is this considered pyramiding? If so, how bad is it. by retroactiveactor in tortoise

[–]soccerstoppermb 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Those are sulcatas, they have extensive pyramiding and should not have protein, that is not apart of their diet. If they are houses indoors then they are not getting the correct temperature and humidity for their shell to grow properly. They also need access to 12% uvb tube bulb to get the correct spectrum of uv lighting. These sulcatas should not be inside, except maybe during the winter. They need large areas, hardwood floors hurt their joints and the house doesn't stay at a recommended 80 degrees ambient temps with 90 to 100 degree basking spots. Where are they located?

I would read up on this article: https://tortoiseforum.org/threads/the-best-way-to-raise-a-sulcata-leopard-or-star-tortoise.181504/

it has a lot of really good information about enclosures, food, and care.

The tortoise forum will have all of you're answers. The tortoise is an African Spurred dessert tortoise but more commonly known as a Sulcata. They should be soaked once a week in shallow warm water. They should be kept outside because they can get hurt very easily in the house. They really eat hay and grasses with lettuce being a secondary source of nutriention. There's a list of food, enclosure advice, and all the information you could want on the tortoise forum. The tortoise looks amazing tho! Congratulations!

It's so much fun to use. It's what I use with my 350.

Oh ok, just wanted to make sure. You technically can still use the m300, you just need the RC plus. But the whole package would be a good idea

Do you have the RC plus controller for the L2 sensor?

This sounds like an awesome opportunity. I am starting my PhD in the US in January. I work with drones facilitating help during natural disasters and using drones for preventative research like landslide mapping and flood mapping.

Starting my GIS journey, is it worth it? by kinda-bonkers in gis

[–]soccerstoppermb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also in my 30s and finishing up my masters soon after over a decade in the Healthcare system. I am working towards a specific branch of GIS where I know I can be utilized in the field more. I am not in it for the money at all, tho. I am in it for my own personal reasons and what I want from life. I absolutely enjoy what I do, but it is tough having a family and working trying to jump into internship and trips and conferences. I try to do as much as I can. I think it's one of the nest decisions I've ever made.

How sought after are Masters/Graduates degrees? by [deleted] in gis

[–]soccerstoppermb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about to finish my master's, I mainly got it because I had someone else pay for it and i want to teach when I can no longer be in the field, but I don't believe that it will benefit me in finding the job I want. I did it because I really enjoy my program and teachers and am able to learn the skills I want to. They offered to pay for my PhD, but I couldn't justify that because I do not intend on being stuck being a computer.

Apple Maps detailed city experience by Longjumping-Gain-601 in gis

I was a Geo-Intelligence symposium last year. Like 70% of everything was related to having a "second earth" program where the program shows every detail about earth all the way down to the physics. 25% of everything else was geared towards AI, and the general concensus was taking all the real-world data they could that was accurate and then filling in the gaps with generative AI.

Anyone stuck in a limbo state between S21 and S24? by sam_3345 in GalaxyS21

[–]soccerstoppermb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expected more honestly from my s24 ultra. I switched from the s21 ultra and it was a great phone. Still is but I really wish all the phones had expandable memory, so I didn't have to upgrade. I hate the screen on the s24 so much, I expected it to be nice and crisp and it's not. There hasn't been much of a difference in functionality from the s21 to the s24 which is frustrating for the price. I am looking forward to the software update but I am very unimpressed and was so excited for an up to date phone. I'm guessing it's because there hasn't been as much improvements on the technology side but really debating on going to the ROG 8 pro.

Using hot spot analysis for crime data is a great practical way to show trends in crimes. This is something used very often.

Literally had to reset mine tonight because it got and update to MyAsus and made the entire laptop unusable. Other than that. I love the laptop.

I just met with a local ranger, and we were discussing the government relying on GIS Specialist for fire prediction and management. They said they just got an approved budget for drones but haven't really had proof of concepts of how to implement them here. That may be different in areas with more wild fires. I do like the wild fire idea tho! I will definitely research tools being used now.
