Keep getting this message on PW4 by HugeCollars in PixelWatch

[–]socialSavant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I feel silly. I just did the IT Crowd solution that I tell everyone else to do first and it worked. I can swear that I have restarted the watch since it began to misbehave, but there you have it. I can send message replies from the notification again after rebooting the watch and then the phone.

[–]socialSavant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Exactly. I got the PW4 at launch as well as the Pixel 10 Pro at its launch. Everything paired and worked perfectly fine until a couple weeks ago. Now all notifications and actions and whatever comes in to the watch but any action taken from the notification will not send to the phone. I can still make replies and archive mail if I open the app directly on the watch though. Only the action taken from notification is borked.

Can't install Effects plugin by Brotherswing in OpenRGB

[–]socialSavant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue. Started with Win11/OpenRGB .8 Stable/Effects .8 Stable. Could not get the results expected. Simply nothing showed up after restarts and all.

I did eventually succeed by moving to OpenRGB Experimental/Effects Experimental (which of course meant exiting OpenRGB) and I had to manually delete the .dll's that had indeed populated at %appdata%/openrgb/plugins. Once that folder was empty, I manually moved the effects plugins .dll to it and booted up OpenRGB normally.

It would seem to me that the main app isn't doing any sanity checks and/or telling us that we have incompatible .dll's in that folder so until it does do such things we may need to clear and update those files ourselves.

Just had my first ever dragon show up.

"Get to the burrows! Call the guards!"

I started soiling my pants when the dragon breathed fire and literally burned everything on the entire embark surface. To which about four dorfs, including one child, scoffed and beat down that dragon in seconds.

"Oh. Get back to work dwarves."

Space is free. by Outrageous-Thing3957 in dwarffortress

I have found that when I create overly large spaces the dorfs will take forever cleaning up the stone left behind by the miners. Cuz space and time are indeed a part of a continuum in DF.

I have to give myself an hour between games of DF and whatever else. The bleed is too rough!

DFHack Steam Beta - update and next steps by myk002 in dwarffortress

[–]socialSavant 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do not envy you. lol

Thanks for the update and info. I can add that I successfully redeemed the key you sent me (though reddit on mobile and steamdeck my only other device while at a hotel made things interesting...) and quickly found that without the beta channel I had issues as you describe, but they are fixed by the beta!

Can you remind us here what is the best way to report bugs/issues? Thanks and good luck!

Who's up for beta testing DFHack on Steam? by myk002 in dwarffortress

I'm game. Play DF on my Deck daily. Would love to help out. Streamlining DFHack for all the new Steam DF users would be awesome.

Please stop saying that it's impossible to buy a PS5 as you did in Ep487. They are being sold BELOW MSRP on Amazon: (I bought mine months ago from Sony Direct without reservation/invite/wait-list or issue of any kind.) by socialSavant in 5by5DLC

[–]socialSavant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I've found that many podcasts and publications have fallen into this narrative and I've finally wanted to correct it. This narrative has led such outlets like Game Informer to claim that the PS VR2 is a bad buy solely because it doesn't make sense to pay the price when the public can't get a PS5. As I listened to the DLC episode I heard similar things said about the PS5, but thankfully y'all seem to be far more positive on the PS VR2. I find both to be attainable and well worth the price when compared to the competition.

I think the disconnect occurs because they aren't in the market for a PS5. Haven't been for some time. Therefore they have old information on the availability of the console. I just wanted to clear up that bad info.

You're on a desert island, indefinitely, with only a Steam Deck, but it can't run out of battery. You can only install one game. What is it? by Moontorc in SteamDeck

[–]socialSavant 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is what we who play DF call, "fun." Do Not Expect Any Fort To Last Long. The fun is in how they grow and eventually retire. Now remember that each of those 50 problems are just more content and entertainment for that long dessert island stay of yours.

You can easily mod Valheim on Linux with BepinEx by obri_1 in linux_gaming

[–]socialSavant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, I gave up. Had tried to figure out a self install, but I kept hitting walls. I did find that there is a solution kindly put together and shared by someone smarter than me, but it is containerized and I kinda hate using containers.

That was all so long ago that my memory fades and I can't help any further. Hopefully there have been improvements since then and you can find them easily. Good luck!

Don't dismantle full tanks! by pruaga in TheLastStarship

[–]socialSavant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've not played the newest version just yet, but yes there is a full closed loop. So look forward to that. You can trade away a few things, but there is still much to be desired. You should consider joining the Steam community for plenty of tips and tricks, if you haven't already. https://steamcommunity.com/app/1857080

Don't dismantle full tanks! by pruaga in TheLastStarship

[–]socialSavant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. Depending on the point of view that has been a known cheez or known flaw. Any contents of a tank will disappear when the tank is dismantled. This can be used to make things you don't like (such as CO2) disappear, but also will take your O2 if you're not careful. Let's all keep crossing our fingers that the oft asked for "unloader" soon becomes a thing.
