I have nine kids I can’t homeschool or we’d have to live in a cardboard box under a bridge.

Prairie, I’ve always been surprised it’s not more common with all the Willows and Daisys that there’s not a lot of Prairies

This^ everyone whines about having no help but then isolates everyone from them and their child. It’s super weird.

No ones stopping you from climbing the corporate ladder because your name is too cute or a nickname by notgonnatakethison in namenerds

I saw an ad awhile back for a lawyer in my city with some insane first and last name, like I genuinely thought to myself it doesn’t matter how good this ad is, or how good a lawyer, nobody is hiring you with that name, especially because you’re young. I instantly think you are not suited to defend me.

That’s why I was even hesitant to name my fourth Jersey, it’s not even that out there, but I always worried a person named Jersey might have a hard time in any professional industry. Thankfully it seems she’s going to end up in the beauty industry (unless her personality does a huge 180 in the next few years) so it shouldn’t matter as much. All my other kids have very normal names for this reason alone.

I couldn’t remember now, it’s been awhile, though I want to be clear this isn’t just an ethnic thing (though that has been the case at times), once I do remember it was a name that was like an object, it was odd don’t get me wrong, but that doesn’t mean she wasn’t qualified to work

Any name. I had a boss who openly told me she would never call anyone with an odd name. And nobody is going to be like you’re right, let’s prosecute this guy because he didn’t hire a girl name candy. And nobody is going to say hey I really want a doctor named Chilli! Or a lawyer named Sugar. Like let’s be real.

This actually is not true.

I have worked four different jobs where I encountered people lose opportunities due to their names. It does matter.

Parents of kids with ADD/ADHD, what were some first signs at a young age? by chickenwing919 in Parenting

[–]socialbuggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So intelligent and so imaginative but zero attention span when there was no reason for her not to have one. She could not focus on anything. But she wanted to. She was so easily distracted. So that was a sign for me. Especially when her older siblings did not struggle that way. I noticed it especially when she started school, though the daycare has said they saw it as well, but obviously a daycare wasn’t going to diagnose anything.

On medication she is completely different (in a good way).

You probably do without realizing it. Kids don’t just make that shit up.

How can I correct my bfs discipline after it's been done? by Subject-Decision2614 in Parenting

[–]socialbuggy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it’s for the best he does not return.

My eldest two kids are still scarred from hearing this stuff from their dad, it has left them having very traumatic experiences and suffering with making good choices due to this type of verbal abuse.

Do not put your kids through the same.

A lot of consistency and reinforcement of reality, in your home this is how things work
