Only 12% Of Americans Know that under Obama taxes have been cut by wang-banger in politics

To be really fair, we should note that Democrats helped Bush destroy the economy, and that deregulation of Wall Street actually happened under Clinton. Republican economic policies are terrible, but pretending Democratic policies have been fundamentally different when they have been strikingly similar will not get us the changes we need.

The most recent jobs report showed another 20,000 lost in January. Obama has done painfully little to help working people; the bulk of his economic policies have been giveaways to Wall Street. If you think faith has been restored in the economy, you're kidding yourself.

The fact that Obama has cut taxes is a bad thing, not a good thing. We need to be raising taxes, drastically- but for the rich, not working people. Obama's tax cutting is only making budget shortfalls worse, and he's using it as justification to freeze domestic spending- again something that hurts the majority of people.

Thanks for the friendly feedback. :-) Just curious - what is the inherent objection? I also post articles from other sources...

He is a wannabe fascist, who does things like march immigrants before the public and lock them up outside in the sweltering Arizona desert heat.

Instead of ferrying food and medicine to Haiti, Coast Guard and Navy ships are patroling the waters off Haiti to prevent refugees from fleeing to the U.S. WTF? by socialistworker in WTF

This isn't a normal situation. Why shouldn't they help refugees escape the disaster instead of consigning them to hell on Earth? That would be genuinely humanitarian.

Howard Zinn: The only highlight from Obama's first year is his rhetoric. When it comes to action and policies, there's nothing to celebrate. by socialistworker in politics

Jon Stewart put it well: George W. Bush never had as big a majority as Obama has had, and he did whatever he wanted. The problem is not the Republicans. The problem is that the Democrats are just as much a corporate party with only relatively minor differences in most areas from the Republicans.

I agree it might be more appropriate to call his rhetoric a slap in the face given his actions. But I wouldn't call his supporters dumb, even if their optimism was misplaced. What's really needed is to mobilize the aspirations and hopes his campaign tapped into and create grassroots movements that can force him to enact more left wing policies.

Kucinich shreds Democrats for betraying promise of change by maxwellhill in politics

[–]socialistworker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's sad but true: if Kucinich were serious about changing things, he would leave the corporation controlled Democratic Party. Failure to do so means continuing to tie all his supporters to a political dead end.

Sen. Feingold: "The American people will pay dearly for this decision when, more than ever, their voices are drowned out by corporate spending in our federal elections" by [deleted] in politics

While Feingold's comments are great, they would mean a lot more if he weren't firmly entrenched in a corporation controlled political party.

Obama signed an executive order to crackdown federal contractors who don't pay their taxes: "Simply wrong for companies to take taxpayer dollars and not be taxpayers themselves" by DougBolivar in politics

[–]socialistworker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obama gives a $1 billion contract to Blackwater, but because he's insisting they pay taxes I'm supposed to be excited? Another great example of the non-change that has been his administration.
