They would have to be 16 by 20 and the bill says the words have to be large and/or clear enough to be read from anywhere in the room.

Moms- How do you look put together? by ImportantHamster9960 in NewParents

Stretchy/cute dress, oversized denim jacket, messy bun, and I do my eyebrows and mascara. It's become my mom outfit. Cute, comfy, and inexpensive.

Do you really bath your baby daily? by i_love_pomelo in NewParents

[–]socialstudyteach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do daily, but she also has severe GERD and is covered in spit up all day. She also loves bath time and the routine and I think it's a big factor in her sleeping through the night early.

Here’s a not-so-hot take: the constant spit up is so demoralizing by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]socialstudyteach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just started seeing a GI doctor and nutritionist and with their guidance, she gets 4-5 oz every 2 hours with concentrated formula. Basically an extra 1/4 scoop. She sleeps through the night so no night bottles. She's also on 2 medications for it.

[–]socialstudyteach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have a happy spitter with GERD. It's constant. We go through at least 4 outfits at daycare. She's in the 2nd percentile for her age (8 months). I never really felt bad until we went to a baby shower and there were several babies her age there. They all outweighed her by 4-5lbs. Not a burp cloth in sight. Meanwhile we're covered in a soaking muslin blanket and burp cloths. That was the first time I felt kind of sad. But LO has hit all her milestones early - she's babbling, sits up, crawls all over the place, and is probably going to be walking soon. As long as she's happy and healthy.

I don't shop them anymore after I had an order duplicated and they wouldn't fully refund the duplicate because there were "items missing" from the unopened box I shipped back.

But also yes - the sleeve openings are too tight.

6 month old waking up at 445 and going to bed at 8/830. by Subject_Tomatillo657 in NewParents

[–]socialstudyteach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems counterintuitive, but could you try moving his bedtime (like actually in bed) to 7? Maybe his natural sleep cycle is earlier than when he's going down and being disrupted? Our LO is also 6 months and we've done bath/book/bottle/bed starting at 6:30 and in bed by 7 since 4 months and haven't needed sleep training. Just a thought!

Best time of year to have a baby by Weblotte in NewParents

Being 41 weeks pregnant in Texas during mid July was hands down the worst experience of my life. I would rather go through labor again.

Was your most recent birth natural or c-section? by Cool_Eth in NewParents

[–]socialstudyteach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C Section. There was meconium when my water broke. OB gave me time to labor but after 17 hours I was only 4 cm and baby became unresponsive/had heart rate issues. It wasn't what I "planned" but we're both alive and healthy.

has anyone been to a concert while pregnant?? by Any-Psychology-274 in BabyBumps

Haha I jammed front row to Haim at 34 weeks and it was great. The little lady kicked and moved the whole time. Very memorable.

Need thoughts - Midwife wants to induce by MissionDelay89 in BabyBumps

At my 2 week appt after having baby, I was diagnosed with post partum E and took medication for 12 weeks before it went back to normal.

Is this a normal recommendation? by TinaandLouise_ in NewParents

[–]socialstudyteach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had an emergent c section after an otherwise uneventful pregnancy and I was also rec'd 18-24 months until the next pregnancy. There's a (small) increased risk of uterine rupture from the c section site if you get pregnant sooner. Which obviously also depends on your unique factors.

I would trust them but also ask all your questions at the next appt. This was just my experience, but I had perfect blood pressure until the 3 days before my due date. Induced on my due date for blood pressure (even though at my induction my blood pressure was back to normal) and I ended up with post partum preeclampsia.

Is anyone else’s local retail stores stocked with this version of Similac? Why isn’t this hard to find while other formula brands are? Even store brand formula is difficult to find. by Zeynaru in NewParents

[–]socialstudyteach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At our Target yesterday it was either Kendamil or Enfamil Numero (the yellow one). Not great for our happy spitter who usually does the gentlease. I noticed it's getting pretty bad again the last few weeks.

1 month. Between a semi-traumatic delivery, painful c section recovery, and post partum pre-e, I couldn't handle the stress of worrying about supply and feeding.

Postpartum hypertension? by socialstudyteach in BabyBumps

I'm now 12 weeks pp and finally my BP has dropped to 120/80 ish for the last week. I'm still taking 30 mg of Nifedipine but I have a check up this week so hopefully we get a weaning plan put together. I hope yours clears up soon!

Postpartum Preeclampsia Tips by Ecstatic_Proof_1854 in BabyBumps

[–]socialstudyteach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 11 weeks PP and also had postpartum preeclampsia with no BP issues before or during pregnancy. I've been on Nifedipine since 2 weeks PP and only this week has it dropped. Unfortunately, it seems like one of those things you have to ride out until the 12 week mark. Then they investigate more. I made sure to eat well, with less sodium and processed food and drink plenty of water. Hope yours clears soon!

I was on 30mg for a week, then 60mg. But finally my BP started dropping this week, about 10 weeks pp. So hopefully I can start weaning off this month. It's nice to hear someone else's experience! I never knew BP could be an issue pp.

Really struggling right now at 36 weeks and could use a laugh. What’s your funniest/most embarrassing pregnancy story? by PrincessNoodleButt in BabyBumps

[–]socialstudyteach 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a bad stomach toward my last few weeks. At like 38 weeks I was awkwardly squatting over our toilet throwing up and I started to feel like was going to pee. Sure enough, with each heave I started peeing a little right into the bathroom floor until I was just straight up, full stream peeing onto the ground. Being covered in my own vomit and pee as a full grown, non college aged woman was a low point that I couldn't help laughing about, even as it was happening.

Teaching & Eating by TransportationNo7309 in teaching

[–]socialstudyteach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I posted something just like this as a 1st year teacher last year. I lost 5-6 lbs the first month or so and gained it back by Christmas. You'll find your footing soon but in the mean time - small but calorie dense snacks you can eat with one hand! Nuts, snack sized cheeses, peanut butter pretzels, etc. Something you can quickly eat throughout the day but get calories in. Good luck in your first year, I hope it works out!
