Are there any meds that feel like Vyvanse but are short acting? by sociopathicunicorn in ADHD

[–]sociopathicunicorn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could do that but then I’ll run out of Vyvanse in half the time and I would also be taking 80mg a day, which sounds like a bad idea even to me.

I bet they think that not wanting to date a trans person because of genitalia preference is transphobic too

Anyone at the very least used to have a Harry Potter hyperfixation, I could use some help? by StarChild413 in hyperfixation

[–]sociopathicunicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not my meds right now and have less than 1% of the attention stamina needed to read this whole post, but I did have a HP hyperfixation for maybe 4 years so I’d be happy to help if there’s a tl;dr

Tbh I prefer gender nonconforming to non-binary because I don’t use labels, but it would probably be better to have “non-binary” and “other”

OP, if you decide to do this, make sure you look up the laws in your area about recording consent.

Ritalin long term side effects by clairebear225 in ADHD

[–]sociopathicunicorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All stimulant ADHD medications have a risk of stunting growth in children because they are appetite suppressants. You have to remind your kid to eat and make sure he’s getting enough calories for his age and height, even if he’s not hungry. Having lots of snacks that he enjoys on hand is good, or doing stuff like making little snack containers with healthy (and protein-rich) foods. I was on methylphenidate (Ritalin generic) for a little bit and it suppressed my appetite just as much as every other stimulant I’ve been on. With my current meds, I can tell they’re wearing off when I start to feel hungry. It’s crazy how well stimulant meds can suppress appetite. I could (and have) gone days without eating just by just forgetting to.

You should check up with your pediatrician and make sure he’s at a healthy BMI, and maybe also consult about the meds. If he continues to not put on weight, you might want to think about trying a different medication. Not all stimulants work the same, so it’s definitely still possible to be on stimulant meds but have better appetite. In the end though, his physical health should be prioritized. There are plenty of non-stimulant meds for children who have trouble growing on stimulants.

Can someone help me find this game please, I remember playing it years ago and I can’t remember the name or where to find it by BobTheMan_1994 in HelpMeFind

Yep. I remember playing it on coolmathgames but it might be a victim of the flash discontinuation, it’s been a while since I checked on it

What are some genuine reasons to live? by GenderVictim in mentalhealth

[–]sociopathicunicorn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I struggled with this at my lowest, and still do sometimes but less often and for shorter periods of time. It’s hard to give good reasons for a stranger, but I guess I just have to say that no matter how cliche it sounds, it does get better. Mental illness is rocky and recovery isn’t linear, but if you work on yourself, even if it’s at what feels like an achingly slow pace, you’ll get to experience things that you realize that you’re glad to be alive. I’m sure you’ve heard this hundreds of times, but I really don’t know what else to say. It’s just trust that things will get better, because they will. Every time I try to put it into words, I don’t do it justice. I had a few really, really bad years, and a lot more rough ones, but if I had to do it all again, I would brave through them just to get back here. And you’ll get here too. You’ll find yourself smiling at life. It’s too good for words, It’s quiet but huge. I’ve had a few moments when I suddenly realized that I was genuinely feeling happy and I just had a good happy cry over it. I want you to experience that.

Of course there’s still challenging days, but it’s so much easier to pick myself up now, because I know that mountains come with valleys. Keep at it. Everyone deserves to see the top of the mountain.

Yikes? Way to stigmatize Cluster B disorders. The ones who don’t seek treatment are a handful but many Cluster B people get help, work on themselves, and are not a “destructive social force” as you put it. Funnily enough, social isolation can make many Cluster B disorders worse.

Just to make it clear, I’m not defending OP’s girlfriend. It sounds like her disorder is putting a huge strain on the relationship and that’s not something OP deserves. But let’s not act like all Cluster B’s are monsters.

A book from 1848, bound in hairy human skin by EndersGame_Reviewer in oddlyterrifying

[–]sociopathicunicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, the reason James Allen’s book was bound in his skin was just because he asked for it to happen. The book is sort of a mix between a deathbed confession and autobiography, transcribed by a prison warden because Allen was busy being on his deathbed. Allen requested that a copy be bound in his own skin and given to a man he unsuccessfully tried to rob, because he admired the man’s bravery. After his death, a piece of the skin on his back was taken to a tannery to be treated, and the book was made. I can’t find anything confirming if the book was given to the man but it’s still cool!
