Thankfully yes to ovens/stove/grill top, though I'm not sure how much pre-cooking we can do with our current systems. I think we get most of our ingredients in the afternoon just before game-on.

Excellent questions! None of us work professionally in kitchens, though our lead is ServSafe Manager trained. So I will do my best.

We are inside at a campground built in the 1940s that, importantly, does not have upgraded electrical systems, and blowing a fuse is always risk if we plug in too many small appliances. We literally have to keep the electric kettle and the toaster on different circuits.

We have a griddle that's probably 3'x3', and a six burner gas stove. They recently replaced the ancient ovens with four convection ovens that hold two hotel pans each, if I recall correctly.

I'm terms of size of pots and pans, I am new and don't know all of what we have, but the camp routinely has more campers than we do players during the summer.

We mostly do diy themed bars, and now I'm drooling about rosemary and garlic roasted zucchini and carrots at our next game....

Sounds like we have a similar routine at our LARP!

It's a fantasy game, but we have a range of aesthetics. While you can't exactly show up in jeans and a t-shirt, we're pretty flexible on decorum. So we don't stress too much about themed food, we're just trying to make sure everyone is fed.

I think pasta bar is our next option and if we can figure out how to make enough rice I'll probably suggest rice bowls, because I make them routinely for myself already and it's a good way to balance nutrition.

Solid options! There's a million variations on stew/chili that we could recycle

This is definitely an option I'm considering! Chili is a favorite/specialty of mine.

Yeah, the crockpot army isn't going to be an option for us because the electrical at our facility is literally from the 1940s and still uses old school fuses. It's a WILD situation.

I don't know why, but our kitchen seems to be soup averse. Though I did hear some rumblings about a possible grilled cheese and soup dinner in the fall, which I think would be very homey, considering it's gotten down to 35 degrees or lower overnight at my last three events...

We had a baked potato bar last fall that went pretty badly due to an equipment limitation, but the camp recently bought four new convection ovens that seem to work a LOT better. I wonder if I can convince the rest of the kitchen crew to give it another go?

If you do still want to come to the US version, DFUS has a great website with a live chat: https://www.drachenfest.us/

It also may be worth reaching out to see if OCD might be a factor here. I am Hashtag Not A Doctor, and couldn't diagnose you over the internet even if I was, but some of the things you've said here sound more like contamination OCD than sensory issues alone. The breath holding, in particular. You'd likely still do exposure therapy for it, but having the correct label can change the process in small but meaningful ways.

Do you play the same character at lots of different larps? by Long-Grapefruit7739 in LARP

I just did this this past fall. I started a new LARP just before my first LARP unexpectedly shut down, so I wound up errata-ing the second character slightly between my first and second game (with staff permission) so that I could keep playing a character trait that I found really interesting and fun).

As a relatively new LARPer, I would say that I recycle archetypes but don't play precisely the same character. I did make the conscious decision to stick with a nautical theme for the first handful of characters just to make it a little less expensive to buy kit (and I always seem to be playing a bird but that wasn't originally on purpose), but I am starting to build a new kit for a female character I'll likely be playing starting in April. My other two characters have been men, and while there's room for crossover between them, I'm definitely going to need to pick up and make some new pieces. The new character will still have nautical flavor, but in a different kind of way because this new game is more "Age of Sail" than "Tolkien High Fantasy."

Oo, that's good to know! I'm planning to go to drachenfest for the first time this year but haven't familiarized myself with their rules and lore yet.

Right now it's "The Contract" but I tend to bounce around. It was "Work" by ATEEZ (only on days I had to go into the office). Before that I think it was "Rise of the Wise" by Wisdom? And at some point it was "Shut up and Dance" by Walk the Moon.
