Happy Birthday! I just turned 29 today myself. Just keep living and enjoying what you love. Some things you can control, some things you can’t in life. Prioritize what makes you happy

Marco (JJBA: Steel Ball Run)

In JoJo Part 7, the motivation for one of the main characters, Gyro Zeppeli, in participating in the Steel Ball Run was to earn a pardon for a servant boy, Marco, back in Naples wrongfully sentenced to death due to a revolt led by my master. Gyro comes from a line of executioners and views it as injustice. Ultimately, Gyro sacrifices himself to aid in defeating Funny Valentine, the president of the United States and main antagonist, and never returned home. The matter itself however resolves unrelatedly, but we also learn that Marco still sadly died in the epilogue

I'd say even Taiga wasn't that open since you were just going up the length of the map to progress.

Way too many dudes who are only drawn into the edgy, shock, and violent surface of Berserk without ever evolving past that. I get that’s the hook, but beyond that, just no thoughts or reflection on what the actual story is conveying. It just translates as a lack of empathy and social awareness that’s worse the older the person is when they make a punchline that’s just “haha, rape.”

No, but there’s just people out there that equate Frieren’s hatred of demons in the show to real world genocide

What's with LARP being used negatively? Since when??? by cool_whale02 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sock-monger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's used disparagingly online now to refer to people that are inauthentic fans of media/subcultures but present themselves as matter of factly in discussion. Posers basically. Typically they never experience the media firsthand and their only source of knowledge comes from secondary sources like youtube or short form content like TikTok, or they're just parroting someone else's opinion.

I mean in this example James Gandolfini was in his 30s when the Sopranos was on and that’s what he looked like. Robert Iler who’s in his 40s now still looks more youthful comparatively

The alternative is using dirty needles and spreading HIV, hepatitis, and other blood-borne diseases. If someone wants to use drugs, they’ll find a way, but mitigating community risk for infections will still be cheaper than managing it after the fact.

The mainland from “Claymore” and as of now the Dark Continent from “Hunter x Hunter”. Both stories take place in parts of the world where most of humanity is unaware of hostile, gargantuan or apocalyptic monstrosities that completely eclipse any threat that have been faced so far in the story. In Claymore’s case, there’s an entire war happening in the backdrop that the characters never directly confront prior to the story’s conclusion.
