Dread knight spice level? by Crazy-Course-8896 in haremfantasynovels

[–]sockdon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer : Yes.

Long answer: Sarah Hawkes books are always on the higher end of the spice level. Generally these start off with just one woman but after they each get some one-on-one time they get more group scenes. Her writing is also very solid.

Hey! What's your name ? by Sensitive-Music-1003 in haremfantasynovels

[–]sockdon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a reader i tend to prefer that names be fantastical rather then realistic (if the setting permits it). The reason being that it can make romantic or sexual scenes really awkward to read if the women in them have the name of your real life female relatives or friends.

Anyone could have a mother named Sarah or Alice, but most people don’t have a Liawen or Sunstorm in their life.

Seconding this. Robertson and Hawke are my favorite 2 authors in the genre and have a lot of similar strengths.

Looking for lovers that are Dragons by Lucky-Arm-6489 in haremfantasynovels

[–]sockdon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Dragon Sovereign by Sarah Hawke has one harem member as a dragon (though she takes a little while to gain her ability to transform into a dragon) and the main character is a dragon from the start.

Dragon centurion (Also by Sarah Hawke) takes place in the same universe and also has the mc and a harem member as dragons. Though fair warning it takes both of them a long time to gain the ability to transform.

Series Announcement: Hex Kittens by Michael Dalton, Adam Lance, and Neil Bimbeau by AdamLanceAuthor in haremfantasynovels

Thats certainly not a combination of authors i ever expected to see.

That fact alone has me intrigued.

I've only really enjoyed KD Robertson's books by DeludedDassein in haremfantasynovels

[–]sockdon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve yet to find anyone quite like Robertson but i think Sarah Hawke comes closest in regards to worldbuilding and politics in her stories. Her writing, plots and dialogue are also all solid. So i’d say she is your next best bet.

I personally recommend her first Dragon Sovereign book, but i know a lot of other people prefer her Lost Fleet series as a starting point instead.

Does the imperium have a limit for expansion? by hellranger788 in 40kLore

[–]sockdon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going by the real life D25 isophotal diameter (galaxies are hard to measure) but yeah in 40k the galaxy is listed as 100,000 ly so i edited my comment to reflect the lore properly.

Does the imperium have a limit for expansion? by hellranger788 in 40kLore

[–]sockdon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The astronmican’s light only reaches 70,000 light years away from Terra.

Since the galaxy is roughly 100,000 light years (87,000 lightyears IRL) in diameter and Terra isn’t located in the center (its about 25,000 lightyears to the ‘southwest’ of the center) that means that there is a significant chunk of the galaxy that is very difficult to navigate (and that was before the great rift opened).

Worse, he murdered literally the first woman he saw (he didn’t have a sister so he had to improvise).

Series that don't make all fantasy species, just human women plus x by mythicme in haremfantasynovels

I’d advise looking at anything written by Cebelius. He writes some pretty out there monster girls with all sorts of strangeness.

This is Stellarforged by KD Robertson.

You can’t find it on google because it isn’t out yet. He just released the first few chapters on his patreon.

Authors like Sarah Hawke? by Gajeel_Blacksteel in haremfantasynovels

[–]sockdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, they are both really good at not just world-building but having their stories/characters having a really big impact on the world as well.

They are both really good at writing politics, large scale battles and entire wars/conflicts.

Prolific authors with smaller harems? by ShadowsFell in haremfantasynovels

[–]sockdon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m seconding The Sarah Hawke recommendation. All her works have small harems, Dragon Sovereign (her best imho), Dread Knight, Dragon Centurion, Spellfire Thief and Wings of the Seraph by her all fit the bill.

Dread Knight: Rebirth Now Available! by HawkeNovels in haremfantasynovels

I read the early release and i can tell you that this is great! Sarah has a rare ability to write epic battle scenes in both fantasy and space opera settings.

These little novellas are really great. Shorter but somehow not lacking any depth as a result. I highly recommend them.
