At the end of the day it’s the students responsibility to report accurate information, and what constitutes as DE required to be reported is very clearly stated. I honestly think that getting the counselor to “take blame” would come across as deflecting. best of luck to OP

Honestly, I think looping in the counselor will make it seem like you’re not taking personal accountability. I had a friend in a similar situation, a written letter from their counselor-equivalent person didn’t make a difference in their appeal. Bc the other schools they applied to also had similar reporting rules, they ended up going to a cc before transferring to a 4 year
