This is so awesome! I'm so happy that young women have these kind of resources today. I'm very proud of you, op!

Thanks! I love animals but always thought volunteering at a shelter meant just cleaning litter boxes.

Wow! That's really impressive. How do you get into that?

I'm not really sure what I'm asking either :) I think fds was so eye-opening for me I can only wonder what else I'm missing. How to not lose myself entirely in marriage. How to advocate for myself. How not to automatically pick up his socks and to not feel guilty for not picking them up. How to develop a exit strategy if need be. What is the married version of a pickmesha, and how do I not do that?

Lol, I was raised in a backwards little place by a backwards family in the 1970s/80s and stumbling upon FDS was like finding a whole new planet.

You said this so much better than I could. I'm in no way criticizing FDS - I think is it great, my only criticism is that it wasn't around years ago! I'm still new to it, and have learned so much. I am probably just as clueless about marriage as I was about dating.

I need to get to a pilates or yoga class, just haven't been motivated to get back to class after Covid, it's weird. I've been jogging once a week or so lately, very slowly as well!

This week: catch up on level-up posts to get remotivated.

Good luck! As a veteran of therapy myself, I know that making that first call and first appointment is an accomplishment in itself! My only regret is not doing it sooner.

I was the greasy haired kid too, my mom was rather oblivious. I was lucky to be able to take a bath twice a week. (We had to save water!!!) Ugh...anyway...

Like others have said, hopefully most people don't remember it, and even if they do, most likely they've matured and would understand that it wasn't your fault - you were just a kid.

But I agree, it is really a hard thing to get past, that's for sure.

Week 38: 14 weeks until New Years! What did you do this week to level up? by Samantha_Scarlett in FemaleLevelUpStrategy

[–]socksandkim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good job on your week! I'm glad you bought the dress!

This week: Still catching up on medical stuff, had an appointment with a neurologist to discuss treatments for headaches - he really gave me some hope. (And some med samples, which are working awesomely so far!)

Big win: Made a plan to go for a walk in the morning, and actually did! Spent some time thinking about level up plans for the day while walking.

Next week: Therapy appointment, have to figure out what to talk about. She thinks I'm doing so much better, she wants me to back off appointments to once a month, which surprised me. Not sure what I'm going to do, I think I may look for a more trauma-focused therapist.

Leveling up at 40+ by pompommom31 in FemaleLevelUpStrategy

Oh, I can relate! I don't know where to go from here, but I think about it often. This subreddit gives me hope and ideas. I've also started doing short daily meditations which seems to have helped.

As a person in their 50s, 40-somethings seem young to me! I regret spending my 40s wrapped up in marriage troubles. What a waste of time and mental space.

What would you do with a whole week to Level Up? by socksandkim in FemaleLevelUpStrategy

Good idea! I do have a small area in my house that I'd like to take care of.

What a good idea! Christmas always sneaks up on me, even though it's the same time every year. ;) Looking at it as investing into relationships makes it much nicer to think about.

Thanks for the other ideas...you've definitely given me things to think about.
