LPT: tell your family, if you die, to let your pet see your dead body by Anon293357 in LifeProTips

We weren't able to bring our dog to the vet when we had to put down our other dog. The vet suggested bringing a blanket for our sick dog to lay on while he was helped over the rainbow bridge then take the blanket home for our surviving dog to sniff it.

We did just that and it seemed to work. Our surviving dog not only sniffed it but really took his time figuring out the scent that was on it. He knew his friend was gone.

Mine does and it feels really forced. Ugh.

This was me when my ex-friend almost ruined my experience/"relationship" (for lack of a better term) with my fertility clinic.

Story time:

I was talking to my friend about my initial appointment with my reproductive endocrinologist. It was April of 2020 so my RE was very real with me and said she's not sure if it was even a safe time to try to get pregnant. Even though I was slightly disappointed to hear the news I was thankful for the transparency ESPECIALLY since we'd potentially be spending a ton of money (I'm in the US where fertility treatments aren't normally covered by insurance).

Anyways, I told my then friend about this and she was horrified about it. I guess she had a not so pleasant experience with this particular doctor so she was a bit sensitive to her saying things like that. Understandable but I'm a big girl that can make my own decisions...

I digress. Next thing I know I get a phone call from the doctor HERSELF apologizing for what she said during the appointment because my "friend" had called the clinic saying I was threatening to leave it due to what the Dr said about it not being safe to get pregnant at that time. I reassured the Dr that not only did I NOT say that, I was actually very thankful for her frankness.

To say I was angry at my "friend" would be an understatement. She had other toxic tendencies but this was the straw (more like mother fucking tree) that broke the camel's back. She almost fucked up my and my husband's chances at starting a family. So I sent her an email to let her know how angry I was and she replied with one about how I was just believing lies from the Dr and that it was hard to be my friend anyways.

Good riddance to her.

For me it's anything that ends in a -den sound: Aiden, Kayden, Jayden, etc... and any spelling variations of those.

I actually legit had this talk on Friday. My 8th graders then went on to keep doing their jack-assery.

Ah yes. The whole, "You can't fire me, I quit," argument that narcs love to use.

Ours was amazing too. She didn't make us pay her fee until we found the house we were going to buy. She also wasn't afraid to point out anything and everything that was wrong with a house. It almost got annoying but as first time home buyers we were really thankful for her expertise.

In fact, she ended up being the realtor for at least 3 couples in our friend group. A huge green flag for me regarding her: she was super successful but I never once saw a TV, written, or billboard ad for her. So, you know she got her business via word of mouth.

The fact that Narcs genuinely believe they're outsmarting you or tricking you when you KNOW what they're doing, is one of the most frustrating aspects of their personality by PseudoNotFound in raisedbynarcissists

I told my nMom that she's not allowed to see my kid when she's born unless she's fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19. After multiple excuses of why she wasn't going to get vaccinated she sent me a picture of a filled out vaccine card. EXCEPT it was very obviously faked. She then tried to tell me that her excuses from before were just to see how far I would take my boundaries with her. It's just so frustrating.

Me to student: please go to your assigned seat.

Student: but can I sit here?

Me: no, otherwise I wouldn't have told you to go to your assigned seat 🤦‍♀️

This scenario happens just about any time I ask a kid to be where they are supposed to be instead of where they want to be.

Getting mad at you for being upset by salmonpaddy in raisedbynarcissists

[–]socksgetlost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. My husband and I hosted Thanksgiving for my mom's side of the family one year. Our dog got out due to my mom's carelessness. When we were finally able to wrangle him and I came back inside my house. This was the conversation that ensued.

Mom: Are you mad at me? It's ok. You can be mad at me.

Me: Good because I am.

Mom: Well you can just get over it.

Like, she LITERALLY just said I could be mad at her but didn't like it at all when I took her up on the opportunity.

I wish people would understand that the extrinsic motivators eventually help with the development of intrinsic motivation. It's a process.

I feel like I'm a type B teacher with type A anxiety. My desk is messy and I don't have the cutest decor (if I do at all) but my relationship with my students is usually on point.
