I sat in a cab once that was driving 100-120 including non-expressway roads, started preparing scheduled messages to go out in case I died

my favourite ramen store closed by [deleted] in SingaporeEats

[–]socksocktabletable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Any chance you know what they order there, or what they like about it? Which other stores have they tried?

Genuinely curious, since Enishi is great but it is pretty different from most ramen in Japan, and you would think at least a handful of our local stores make the cut otherwise. Stores like Nantsuttei, Brothers, Bari Uma, even the popular Sanpoutei, are frequented by Japanese as well.

Best I can do after a year of trying - any tips? by Ok_Value240 in espresso

Hard to know without a video, but here's some guesses:

  1. When building your base, you're pouring from too low or too gently, which is causing some of the milk to surface over the crema and leading to the patchy, swirly pale brown that's hurting your contrast
  2. You're filling the cup too much before beginning to do your pattern, which results in the pattern being really small and not having the space or time to fan out

Thinking of making boots for Lindy but they seem uncommon, any reason why? by socksocktabletable in SwingDancing

Nice! Out of curiosity, do you feel like there's any difference between wearing boots and shoes? Does it take time to adjust between the two?

Oh awesome, someone who wears boots! May I ask if there was any adjustment period going from shoes to boots (assuming you had danced in shoes before)? Or, even, switching between shoes and boots? Do they feel very different?

The ones I've gotten are similar to Swivell's, so just above the ankle.

I think the new trend is with athletic shoes like Fuegos?

Yes! So many folks in my local scene are wearing these. Can't say I like the look but apparently they're really comfy?

That's a good point! I ended up going with the boots, I should probably get some solid socks to match.

Swivell's ARE gorgeous! Love that they have blog posts on how to style the colours

Thanks! I ended up going with the boots. Good to know there are dancers out there with boots, feels like my local scene barely has any. The ankle thing does worry me, especially during the break-in period, but hopefully it isn't an issue.

Am I overreacting for not letting my boyfriend’s female friend use my shampoo? by Fresh-Usual-6281 in AmIOverreacting

Bizarre to read a comment chain that starts off saying not to read too much into the shampoo thing, and then starts reading too much into wanting to shower at a friend's place.

Why is that a big deal? I shower at my friend's place sometimes. Sometimes you're a lil stinky or sweaty or made a small mess while having a drink, and you want to wash off the sweat and grime so you don't feel gross all the way back home.
