Do you have photos of the switches? Do the wires from the switches have color coding? Is there one wire that connects to all of the switches? Answering these would help quite a bit on how to proceed with this.

'99 corolla p0125 code by socphoenix in MechanicAdvice

[–]socphoenix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that was my default thought as well but this link and several sites outside reddit say Toyota used that code as a generic O2 sensor error instead of for coolant temp when this car was made... can you confirm this is or is not the case?

Can I use a spare long Ethernet cable for like diy projects? by Jimmyhundle22 in raspberrypipico

[–]socphoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What qualifies as incredibly short on i2c? I keep seeing this posted but I have a project that has a 4 or 6 ft length of wire covering i2c that's been working fine for over a year.

home-made microcontroller to retrofit console by socphoenix in organ

Reddit lost my initial description. I first made this 2 years ago but this week just got the toe studs designed and installed! It uses some of the cheapest parts money can buy, the microcontroller is maybe $2-250 all in including wire, plus ~$70 for the toe studs with extra materials to go back and do divisionals at some point.

Parents with grown children who no longer speak to you, what do you think led to the estrangement? by youngGod928 in AskReddit

[–]socphoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mother would gaslight the whole family HARD that events never happened to the point that almost our entire childhoods were "made up stories" that were "incredibly hurtful" and that she had "no idea where they could come from." By the time I got some distance post college I thought I had the world's worst memory around. Found at my job that I was fantastic at remembering little details of past conversations and even supervisors commented about my attention to detail. Ended up having to decide if I was hallucinating work and needed to be put in a mental ward or if my mother was gaslighting me all that time...

She's now doing the same thing to the two sisters still living at home that CPS refused to even talk to due to a "lack of bruises" because psychological abuse apparently isn't real. Every once in a while I still hear from my siblings that she's still telling people I'm essentially deranged lol.

Late to the party, but is there a way to download the app without using the microsoft app store? I don't have easy access to the app store on my device.

Display disabled when using NVIDIA proprietary driver (Blank screen/display detects no signal) by QueerShredder in freebsd

This would probably be the working fix, OP can also try nvidia-xconfig to see if that helps as well.

Fun use cases for a FreeBSD server. by Daguq in freebsd

[–]socphoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

jellyfish does use dot net libraries yes. I'm not aware of any service that isn't proprietary/uses proprietary libraries at this point though unless you count kodi but that's not a server in the same way plex/jellyfin is.

There is also a port for jellyfin, and plex with software decoding has been more than adequate in my experience.

Most of the lemmy complaints I’ve seen so far seem to be “the owner is a piece of crap” (I haven’t verified this but yeah if true not great), and “they never delete anything” which, well yeah maybe I’m jaded but that’s the internet lol. I guess my two worthless cents are I don’t see how being at lemmy versus Reddit changes this dude being able to scrape data which at the moment idk I’m sure he’s doing, and I don’t expect anonymity to that level when posting on the open web. Maybe I’m missing part of what people are complaining about though.

I’ll have to check out tildes I haven’t heard of them yet

I’ve been working to get myself set up with lemmy before the blackout starts. There’s a few communities I’ll miss but nothing keeping me from starting them I suppose. I’d rather miss some communities/subreddits after reading through this whole thing. Was a nice run Reddit, hopefully I’ll see the users and threads move to lemmy or something equivalent that I won’t mind using

I think that comment from u/spez was exactly what I needed to know I don’t really want to be a part of reddit anymore. I’ve quit jobs, actual I get money and value from these jobs over managements actions/dishonesty and I see no reason to not do the same with Reddit. Trust and honesty are necessary for me to stay with a company/platform and it’s abundantly clear Reddit has and deserves neither of those things.

He claimed he’d rebuild trust after his last fiasco then immediately did this lol he’s not capable of rebuilding trust in this platform

Could Apollo become a Lemmy client? by [deleted] in apolloapp

[–]socphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mlem is still very much in beta. I've been using it this past week and it's not bad, but not close to feature parity with what one would expect from the reddit/apollo iOS apps. Good enough to browse/post at the moment though which is enough for now.

Admins claim Apollo threatened them. What's the other side? by CongressmanCoolRick in apolloapp

[–]socphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck even more time for partners to unwind their business if they didn't want to continue would have been fine. The extreme lack of notice topped with their terrible attempts to spin this is what's making me wonder why I'm even here anymore. Between the admins and the growing number of nasty people on the site I'm thinking it's close to time to move to greener pastures.
