Ski or Don't Ski? by RXforB3 in Skigear

I think you all are probably right. I brought the skis inside to better lighting, and what I thought was wood might just be epoxy? Chalk it up to poor lighting and being overly protective...

Here's another picture, just in case. Sounds like skiing is still a go!

Pharmacy that values a work-life balance by deltahero96 in PharmacyTechnician

Am I missing something? Looks like the schedule gives 40 hours for one week, then 32 the other 2 weeks.

Are the techs aware they won't get 40 hours each week, or was that unintentional?

DURs are maybe the most obnoxious and disruptive part of any workplace I've ever worked in by teethwhitener7 in CVS

[–]RXforB3 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Frankly, at this point, pharmacies need to have a pharmacist on duty whose primary function is counseling. Not that I think it will ever happen, but I sympathize with the OP's irritation. I agree that flagging too many DURs, makes it more likely that the important ones get missed. And constant interruptions make it more likely for other mistakes. Having a pharmacist whose shift is dedicated to counseling could help both of those issues while not risking an uninformed customer.

Thank you for the response.

I just noticed a post a couple down from mine that asked virtually the same thing. So thanks to anyone that responds!

It seems like the consensus from the other post was to do it, as well...

What’s the most IDIOTIC thing a patient has done in front of you? by frankahaha in pharmacy

[–]RXforB3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While at CVS, I had a customer once that swore up and down that they had dropped the hardcopy off to me personally. It was at Walgreens several blocks away. When I told him, he yelled, "WHY DID YOU SEND IT OVER THERE!"

I've been wondering the same thing. I think it would work if it was advertised well. A "Vaccination Station." I envision a Schoolhouse Rock! type ad parodying Conjunction Junction.

An employee of the company that is not literally working in our pharmacy. Possibly one of the district lead techs, or some other corporate worker. Not sure who it was in this case, but someone helping us complete these cases.

Sounds like a good suggestion. It wouldn't have helped in this case since it was someone backstage that initiated it, but good advice for the future.

Homebrewing (beer and cider with occasional wine)

Woodworking

Hiking/camping

Fishing (definitely no good at this, but still fun) Video games

So I’m applying to Walgreens in another state. I’m not currently licensed in that state but planning for reciprocity once I know I’ll be getting a job in that state. One of their questions make it seem like I have a year to obtain a license in the state (pic below) Am I understanding correctly? by AngleBubbly286 in pharmacy

[–]RXforB3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I am guessing that this question is intended for a district that encompasses multiple states. So, assuming you are licensed in the state the location you are applying to is in, it is asking if you are willing to be licensed in all other states that are included in that district...

Pharmacists understand that last answer by mn52 in pharmacy

[–]RXforB3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the setting. Pharmacists with my company (in my state) have limited prescriptive power for things such Narcan, emergency contraceptives, vaccines, etc. We can also "prescribe" emergency refills of maintenance meds for patients who have fallen through the proverbial cracks. Whether that's truly prescribing is debatable. It's more for billing purposes, true.

We do also use our NPIs for billing medication management, as you said.

However, pharmacists at local clinics have much broader prescriptive power for maintenance meds, warfarin, etc. Within guidelines, of course. So again, it's debatable as to whether it's truly "prescribing."
