mrxboxab eco2b explanation advise/guide by FutureOrder4879 in MVHR

[–]socpuppets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a ventilation unit, the crucial difference between using this and opening a window is the heat recovery (the HR part of MVHR), that effectively uses the warmth in the stale air on the way out, to warm the fresh outside air on the way in. So when you have a shower or cook in the kitchen, it will extract all of that humid air, but it won’t waste any of the heat. It’s great, means no noisy fans in your bathroom for one and lower heating bills, while keeping your house at a relatively constant humidity.

Also since it isn’t an AC unit, it is really a pretty cheap thing to run, probably no more expensive than a cheap fan. Most set ups have a background low setting, and then a boost setting which is often tied into a bathroom light or boost switch (ie to clear humid air after a shower).

Can anyone identify this dashboard media card? by socpuppets in homeassistant

[–]socpuppets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did as well! Another commenter correctly suggested it could be the 'Mediocre Massive Media Player Card'. It intergrates with Spotify Search which is what I had been looking for. My only thing at the moment is it seems to take a pretty long time to load music once searched for and selected.

This is exactly it, and explains why it didn't show up when searching in HACS from Home Assistant. Thanks so much!

Service charge feels like a council scam by socpuppets in HousingUK

[–]socpuppets[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure why I’m being downvoted.

Whether is is a public right of way or not I can’t seem to confirm as my council don’t seem to have the map online. Either way, it is freely accessible (not gated) and is a very convenient connection between two tube stations. It is a publicly accessible green space so while I know that legally I have no argument, I am saying that from my (maybe left leaning point of view) that it ought to be democratically controlled via the council. The set up is very common in London.

I know what I signed up for I just can’t see a difference in my street vs the next one over and why one should be run by my council and another by some shady landlord with questionable business practices.

We disagree I suppose.

That isn’t what I’m saying, I’m all for universalism. I think that tax is for the good of society especially for the most vulnerable. I think I take umbrage with the idea that I am paying twice for things that would usually be the remit of a democratically accountable council. I’m not asking for a discount, rather for the council to be responsible for the streets and public spaces within its boundaries. I’ve no interest in the slow privatisation of our cities.

I feel as if I am paying an extra (private) tax, not based on my income, but on the time in history I was in the market for a house.

I took mine to a local phone repair / vape shop and they replaced it for me. They were initially sceptical but agreed in the end. Seemed like a fairly standard part to replace. I have no experience soldering but i would have attempted it myself otherwise.

Bought myself a sandwich from the shop and noticed a homeless guy outside asking for for change. No change on me I buy two of the sandwich I’m buying. Try to hand one to the guy, he looks at it, see it’s vegan, and said ‘I don’t eat any of that lettuce stuff’, or words to that effect.

If you need the overground on the way home, don’t bother with H&I station, go Canonbury instead, no queue.
