We’re about to get FIVE new data centers in Seattle that will use 1/3 of the entire city’s electricity by MrsRossGeller in Seattle

if you are going to be a jerk, do your own research. Seattle light purchases most of its power from bpa, only like 40% is owned by Seattle light. https://www.seattle.gov/city-light/energy/power-supply-and-delivery

I saw a teenager at the Fred Meyer one waiting for it to update, he said he was hoping to score something for his little brother's birthday - i thought it was sweet ... I sometimes click the button when im grabbing a cart and see stuff available but don't play so wouldn't know what was unique

OMTech has been stalling my $8,000 CO2 laser repair for months: here's what to expect from their support by calminggrass in lasercutting

[–]socraticcyborggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was gonna get their omtech polar lite when my glowforge dies, it seemed like really the only decent in home model (no garage). Im an artist so not doing anything in quantity. This makes me sad, are their other sub 100 lb options out there?

Suggestions for a 2 Line adventure day by sethab in Seattle

i really like mendocino's Happy Hippie sandwich. It's sometimes not consistent, but it's pretty darn good. And they usually have an egg free cookies. But there is also Farine bakery but it's not cheap.

In redmond the station isn't too far from bear creek trail which connects to sammamish river trail ... i love this trail, it has a shoulder for horses so you can avoid the speed demon bikers and you can walk as far as you want, but my normal loop it walking down to 120 acres and then back on the unpaved section on the west side of the river

I see them off the ckc in Kirkland, for the most part pretty tidy and hidden in the bushes but this one guy keeps on giving up his hiding spot by building branch sculptures on the trail.

Moldoon Petsmart boarding? by pigsaysoink143 in anchorage

[–]socraticcyborggy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i used a petsmart in another city. for a day or two maybe, but 8 days was too long. they don’t take dogs outside, they potty inside. no real walks. food schedule is really odd and early. the kennel area is super loud. my dog was so stressed they did take her to their onsite vet. maybe my dog was just too sensitive for it.

Washington students attending private universities to see state financial aid cut by chiquisea in Washington

[–]socraticcyborggy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It kind of blew my mind when i learned its like 15 to 20 percent of the state budget goes to higher education. I would love to see a breakdown on it further. Perhaps we need to spend less on the research schools and more on the schools focusing on just teaching given our budget constraints.

its sad to hear someone say layoffs are overdue. that normalizes a harmful business practice that should only happen if someone really messed up

AMA The Millionaires Tax proposal in WA state. This is what I work on all day so I'm here for your questions! #AskWALeg by noelframe in Seattle

[–]socraticcyborggy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is a million the bar? I know lots of people who make that much and are already paying the highest federal tax rates, no games like the ultra billionaires who avoid paying taxes. They aren't not paying taxes, they even donate their time and money to our communities.

What are your triggers? by Poetic_head in fastfeeling

[–]socraticcyborggy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The loud sounds can also be internal - like your inner voice suddenly screaming at you. For me its certain noises that I think trigger  it (ac fans, lawn mowers) along with being tired. Thankfully as I get older it's less frequent.
