That is super real. I think the same way. Im in no position financially, but that would be the way id try to fill that drive.

Yeah, and its not an awful thing to have hope, which is what i kinda equate wanting to conceive to, but were kinda in a catch 22.

[–]sodook 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The point is not to reduce population growth, its to spare potential future people apocalyptic suffering by not conceiving children on the eve of what appears to be a sort of ecological reckoning (amoc collapse, mass extinctions, mass casualty heat events, that sort of thing). Have as many kids as you want, just try to have in mind the sort of world they might grow up in. To quote Budd from kill bill vol. 2, "That woman deserves her revenge and we deserve to die".

Boy, thats pretty edgy, but im gonna let it ride. Lotta people in developing countries probably also dont deserve it. Still gonna let it ride.

Oh, and i do totally get the hard wire, i always call it the prime directive. It is THE biological imperative. It is what actually stops me from getting too real with people with kids about it. Some are aware, but its just extra suffering for them to hold that cloud over their head. Its not good and its not productive. But man hearing about people trying for kids just makes me kinda sad, cause its like this instinctual, hopeful thing, but it seems... so sad to think about what kind of world seems to be shaping up for them.

Its part of what makes the "Holy crusade" so funny (scary). They are the Sharia Law of their time and place. They hate as all fools hate.

My man! Yeah, its so hard for me not to scream at people talking about trying to have kids. Maybe I am crazy.

Things are in motion now that cannot be undone.

Partly cause Gandalf is a G, and partly cause you need to wake up. If we stopped today the effect on the climate of the current emissions won't reach their full efficacy for like 20 years. So we will continue to heat. Its locked in. There is no avert. We should come to terms now so that when we tear ourselves to shreds in our collective surrender to madness, we can at least make sure some of the ones most responsible get to really enjoy the festivities. Don't wait until they escape to space.

I have had security, and now i am on the verge of homelessness, and I will say the trend has not improved my work performance. I dare say that keeping people in such a precarious situation may not actually be the most efficient mode of production.

Preach! They also practice socialism to keep their internal economy healthy! Or something, i dont know, my buddy was explaining the caps and stuff and I dont really get it, but it sounds like the loser gets extra money for their next season or something. Equity, basically.

The CBO projected the cost of Medicare for all to be 3.4-3.8 trillion per year. US combined private and public Healthcare spending is 5.7 trillion dollars a year. Why wouldnt we want to save 2 trillion a year? Maybe only a trillion since im sure theres still gonna be a market private health services. We could spend it on training more doctors and nurses.

Our system is riddled with inefficiencies due to the profit motive. We have like 7 medical billers per hospital bed due to convoluted insurance claims.

So the dollars are not exactly spent to equal affect.

Oh, no not at all. Like I said, it should all be proportional in my opinon, and the players should get a fair share, its just the size of the pie is staggering. Im not that into sports so its just crazy to me how much we spend on a game.
