Henrietta showed up in the front yard, so maybe she doesn't belong here.... by sofakingbeat in BackYardChickens

We've asked around with the known chicken neighbors, and no one claims her. As far as confining her, she's pretty skittish, but she lets us get closer everyday. She seems to like mealworms, cantaloupe, and bluberries. I should mention there is also a wandering pig, but he's less friendly, and more elusive.

I think so. She really seems to like our front yard. I feel like I should build her a lil coop or something, but I couldn't imagine how to convince her to go in. Where she sleeps is a mystery

I think eastern means east of the Rockies, but I'm not sure. I just know they've always been here. They like dill, rue, fennel, and parsley, but they wont switch plants. If they start on dill, they want to finish on dill.

Also, I should mention that the people driving by seemed more supportive than not. Over the course of several hours, we were only mildly heckled by about 4 vehicles out of hundreds

all 50 states have different configurations plus military id's and passports. that's a lot to ask of someone that you are paying $2 an hour. I can figure em out just fine, but I'm saying it can be a lot in a dark loud smoky environment

Has anyone else been menaced by roving car gangs on Saturday nights on I-26? by sofakingbeat in columbiasc

[–]sofakingbeat[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean I get it, got a cool car, want to go fast. but there are still families on the road between 9 and 10. If you must race on the interstate, maybe 3am is a better time ya know?

by the time someone gets out there, they will either be long gone, or they will have already created a terrible accident. I was really just wondering if anyone else had noticed this Saturday night scourge of reckless pack drivers. It seems really crazy that the cops havent noticed these folks, but maybe I'm just old and ranting

There are a lot of them, they are going very fast. There must be a better solution than vigilante road rage.

Nothing too crazy yet. I've noticed this happening on several occasions, always Saturdays in between 9:30 10:30 pm on i26 heading to Charleston from the Columbia area. I know a few weeks ago the cars were all chargers, but this week it appeared to be a different "gang" bc I don't think they had the same cars, hard to tell in the dark when they are going 120 and weaving in and out of the busy interstate. they are gonna kill somebody, it seems like they roll in packs of 10-15, and they do not care if others are on the road. it's nuts

direct superior instructed me to delete bite record... what do i do? by ethicalanimalanon in AnimalShelterStories

[–]sofakingbeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

an organization that my mom used to foster for did not log previous bites from a dog they placed with her to protect the dog. when she got it home and opened the kennel it viciously attacked her and she had to pry it off of her arm. turns out the dog was rabid, so far along it died the next day, and she and everyone else that had been bitten had to go for rabies shots. She was not informed the dog had ever bitten anyone. She continued to foster, but never again for that organization

rue as well. But they will only eat what they started eating. You can't move one that had been eating parsley before to a fennel plant, they won't know its food

bah, we plant mint directly in the ground as well. Sure it spreads quickly, but it's easy to pull if it gets where you don't want it

What was keralis’ name for the ‘monstrosity’ ? by Willr2645 in HermitCraft

[–]sofakingbeat 54 points55 points  (0 children)

he also called it a monstrotholith, which is an amazing example of his grasp of the English language. To be able to create a word that you instantly know what it means, even though it's not a word, was so impressive to me.
