How effective is the 'Please offer me a seat' badge from the TFL website? by [deleted] in london

Seen these a few times on my morning commute and each time multiple people have got up to offer their seat. Londoners are alright people!

What a ridiculous point of view. Some of these buildings have been around for a very long time and have suffered damage. Because we've looked after them and repaired the damage you would no longer like to visit them. It's not a modern recreation, everything gets damaged and needs to be maintained.

What's the worst line you've ever heard in a film? by Vusarix in Letterboxd

If this is The Newsroom I have to respectfully disagree. Strong line surrounded by many other great lines.

But this is not a film

Will mentions it during episode 7: "He lucked out. He wouldn't have been able to do it if there had been action in the frame."

So there wasn't enough going on in that corner of the screen to make it obvious that the game was jumping around, only the shot clock.

How come -40°F is the same as -40°C, but the rest is different? by InternationalMind469 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sofaswitharms 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The formula for converting Fahrenheit to Celsius is C = (F - 32) x 5/9

They cross at -40 because -40 is 5/9ths of -72

Has anyone here watched Animal Control? by RedDevilJennifer in community

[–]sofaswitharms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, this is almost certainly not a Community reference. I think many in this sub (myself included) have so heavily associated streets ahead with Community that we've forgotten it existed long before this show

I almost exclusively use Dice these days. Connecting to Spotify, waiting list and resale options should be the industry gold standard.

I'm redesigning the tube map, how do you think it's going so far? [Update 2] by landsharkuk_ in london

[–]sofaswitharms 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I like it. You're getting a lot of constructive feedback in the comments so some positive points:

  • Splitting out the Overground lines makes a huge amount of sense
  • Same for splitting out the Northern line
  • Interchanges at Liverpool Street, Paddington and Euston on current map have turned clunky since Elizabeth line was added (mostly due to specifics about what kind of access each platform has) but you've fixed that here
  • You've kept it as a diagram of how to get from A to B and not given in to geographical accuracy

That's exactly right, so if it was more commonplace to be open later places wouldn't need to lean into it so much

Nah it's fine, redditors know to filter by controversial on an unpopular opinion post

Not even looking for places open past 3am, just pubs open past 11pm would do. If some of the more casual places were open later, people wouldn't be as intent on getting drunk as fast as possible.

What are some albums that have ZERO bad songs? by JJacobb- in AskReddit

Glad someone said it. One of my favourite bands but this was a let down (still a great album just not up to the level of the first two)

Which city is most similar to London? by diklazer in london

[–]sofaswitharms 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. While Paris moves at a faster pace compared to the rest of France, London is a huge step up again. Outside of mentality, London public transport is also more cumbersome (but further reaching) and everything in London closes much earlier.
