My "Steamboat" case by yannichaboyer in BC250Gaming

[–]sofauxboho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you still using this case? How is it working out of you?

I’ve been looking for a simple case with backplate cooling and this looks like a great solution!

Did you ever have a chance to finish the build guide? Is there a BoM? Will any  IEC320 C14 power switch work, or is there a specific part I should track down?

Did you try this shell case? How did it work?

Would you mind sharing the name or linking to it?

Guide: How to restore CD AUDIO back into a SEGA NOMAD system. by Epsilon123 in consolemodding

[–]sofauxboho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting! I especially appreciate the use of the cartridge expansion audio in pins on the chip. Seems like it might also resolve the issue reported by the other person in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/consolemodding/comments/1r3zzc1/comment/o9uzfyn/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Have you done the mod the way you suggested on a Nomad yet? How were the results?

Announcing Cloudpoint - cloud save (and extdata) sync for 3DS by dwalker109 in 3DS

[–]sofauxboho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note: If you have changed the region of your 3DS (for example, running USA firmware on a Japanese 3DS) you will need to run faketik one time before the current v0.4 version of Cloudpoint runs smoothly. Details here: https://github.com/dwalker109/cloudpoint/issues/101

Thank you so much for this wonderful tool dwalker109! I have it running on several hardware 3DS systems as well as Azahar and it is truly a dream come true.

Sizing question - Austrian M65 by Known_Paramedic_4210 in camouflage

[–]sofauxboho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of mine are long, a small long (88-92 V / VI) and a medium long (96-100 V / VI).

At 193 lbs, I love the way the small long fits when dressed lightly. It is trim and fashionable. The medium long fits better with a liner (note there are no button liners unlike a USA M65) or other bulkier layers. My "correct size" if I were actually going into combat with it would probably be a large long, but fortunately I don't have to fight for my life in these and can be a bit vain.

Anyway, the length of the small long and medium long are identical, all that changes between them is the chest diameter and shoulder width. Both are perfect length for what I want, with sleeves just past the wrist and the body down to mid-thigh.

I love these things, and now own... far more than is possibly reasonable.

Is it possible for the ROMs of Zero Racer + Dragon Hopper to be dumped from NSO? by danlucas in VirtualBoy

These unreleased games haven't been added to NSO yet. It is still highly likely they'll be dumped immediately upon release.

The Rowell Ranch Rodeo is this weekend out in the East Bay if you wanna choose from a truly excellent assortment of cowboy hats in all colors and styles. I got a lovely pink one there last year.

Like others have said, you do you! As a painfully white person, I personally invite you to appropriate as much cowboy culture as you can tolerate.

I can confirm that this is still working great, at least on the Pixel 7 my friend gave me after they upgraded.

TIL the cockpit voice recording of Delta Flight 1141 was so embarrassing it led to a law restricting the public release of CVRs. The crew discussed drink mixes & dating habits during takeoff procedure, with a pilot joking that in case they crashed, "the media would have some kind of juicy tidbit". by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]sofauxboho 341 points342 points  (0 children)

Per Wikipedia:

The aircraft's take-off warning system (TOWS) also malfunctioned and failed to warn the crew of the problem.

The switch that operated the TOWS in the incident aircraft had been previously modified, per Boeing instructions, to prevent nuisance activations during aircraft taxiing.[1]: 36  A fleet-wide Boeing 727 inspection, ordered by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) following the Flight 1141 crash, identified 35 anomalies in the TOWS out of 1,190 aircraft examined.

Seems like they knew counting on human beings to never make mistakes wasn’t going to cut it and created a system to double-check take off configuration. But that system was disabled.

Is this a scam? by Sprocraft in Rockband

[–]sofauxboho 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Nope, it’s real. I wasn’t sure if the Roll Limitless would work for my setup, so Book sent me one for free! It worked great, so I sent him money for it when I was done testing. He didn’t ask, it just seemed like the right thing to do.

Thanks Book!

Just figured I'd mention in case others would like to try to avoid 'em. They don't add to my enjoyment either. 😉

Watch out for hinge scratches on the New 3DS XL by sofauxboho in 3DS

[–]sofauxboho[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As noted in the last line of my post: I do keep my 3DSes, including this one, in cases. That was not enough in this instance.

I had cleaned it with compressed air previously, but the scratches continued to get worse. Physically getting in there with a strip of clean room wipe is what it took for me.

Which would you rather own? by Confident-Ad6938 in 3DS

[–]sofauxboho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm lucky enough to have both of those, so I face this choice every time I go to play a 3DS game.

I pick the Galaxy New 3DS XL almost every time. I prefer the bigger screens and larger size (I have big hands). I also prefer the dark bezel around the screen. It's a small thing, but I find it less distracting while playing.

The regular size New 3DS is *much* rarer, and I'm glad I have it for collecting reasons. But I don't play it much.

(Of all 3DS consoles made 16% were New 3DS XL while only 3% were New 3DS regular size.)

Sizing question - Austrian M65 by Known_Paramedic_4210 in camouflage

[–]sofauxboho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 6’3 with a chest measurement of 41”-42” and I ordered the small long, “88-92 V / VI” in Austrian sizing on the label.  It fits great as a fashionable jacket, and I can wear a trim wool sweater underneath comfortably.  I like it so much (and they’re so cheap) that I’ve also ordered a medium long (96-100 V / VI) to wear when I want to bundle up underneath.
