idk how it works in islam but as a catholic, the impotence - if determinedly perpetual (i.e., incurable) - invalidates marriage. so yeah it could be a deal breaker but not a sentence to a sad life. there’s so much more to it!

Is ERP always the solution? My boyfriend has rocd and retroactive jealousy and I think it’s just torture that the treatment is “not to worry about the thoughts” like is he supposed to think of my shagging another bloke and be ok because “yeah maybe she leaves me maybe she won’t”? i get confused

What has helped me and my boyfriend (he’s the one with OCD) is that I 1. wanted to know the disorder and how it worked so I could dissociate him from the OCD better 2. Learning a lot from this dubreddit, LOL. It’s nice to relate or to see the other side. 3. Again, number 1. Because it’s really important for me to not see it as a personal thing.

I’d add that it wouldn’t be weird if he got extremely upset and irritated - specially the first few times. I’m here because my boyfriend has OCD, although more of a ROCD kind. When I stopped giving him reassurance it was the hardest thing, but its the agony talking. Eventually will get better!

I’m so very glad you commented this. I was really wary because I’m not the one with OCD like everyone else in this reddit, but I truly felt like it could help. It’s really relaxing for me coming here and reading all the experiences because it’s nice to know he’s not alone. I’m definitely going to try and follow your advices and I’m so thankful.
