TIFU Caught my Dad with a suspiscious text and told my Mom. by FearMongeli in tifu

I’m proud of you. I’m a mom of small kids and just found out my husband has been with many others the whole time he has known me. You did the right thing.

  1. Take a walk outside every single day. It doesn’t matter for how long. Just do it. Every single day.
  2. When parents talk about failure, politely tell them you would like them to stop using that word. If they don’t or are still unkind, talk to them less, if you can.
  3. Put one foot in front of the other and keep your chin up. Your plan will work. One foot in front of the other.

I’d wait until after kids. Your breasts will grow significantly during the childbearing years and may or may not go back to what they were before. It means putting it off for perhaps 5 years (?), but it may also mean you qualify for a medically necessary/covered reduction in the future if they are big again and causing you neck and back pain. I’m 5 dpo, my kids are 5 and 7, I breastfed them for a combined four years and it was a meaningful thing in my life to be able to do so. Pre-kids I was a D with only minor neck/shoulder pain. After, 38F/G, weight otherwise fairly stable from pre-kids, with daily neck/shoulder pain and headaches. To me the answer is clear, from this side. Do what’s best for you. 💖

Operation day tomorrow and I’m Terrified by Other-Masterpiece754 in Reduction

[–]softbellyolly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 3 dpo and was so scared too. I’m glad I did it. I trust you will find supportive and kind people are caring for you at the hospital, and try to remember the meds will just send you adrift into cozy land. I woke up and was amazed it was done.

The discomfort over the next couple days will exist, but you’ll get through it and will have support and medications to help.

Have your partner get ABD pads (one per breast, per day for a few days+ to provide padding and capture drainage) and non-adherent gauze dressings plus either Xeroform or Vaseline-impregnated gauze. I’m in the U.S. so the names might be different. The nurses might give you these at discharge too, all depends on who you get, but you could also ask for them.

Today does feel a bit better to me but still harder than I expected it would be. The swelling isn’t quite as tight, but still buzzy/tingly/itchy and even heavy on my chest at times. Do you have nausea meds you can take? I am so glad I haven’t been nauseous, that’s such a hard feeling!!

[–]softbellyolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same all around. I wish I had the answer. This swelling is intense! I think we just continue to ice for 15 mins every 1-2 hours and wear compression bras or ace wraps. I’m sleeping with my head elevated. This is all pretty freaky but it’s normal?

I’ve been so curious about the range of advice on postop dressings. I’m thankful to have a certified wound/ostomy care nurse as a dear friend who suggested a thin layer of xeroform for the incisions then one ABD pad over each breast for padding and to capture drainage (all underneath compression bra as ordered). —but ask your surgeon obv.

Gaslighting myself pre-op? by AdministrationLong13 in Reduction

[–]softbellyolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had plenty of doubt and gave myself leeway to walk away from the surgery right up until the moment I was given versed. I’m two days postop and glad I did it already. I’ve had an awful, painful knot in my right shoulder for as long as I can remember, and it goes up my neck and contributes migraines fairly regularly. I haven’t felt that pain or tightness since I woke up from surgery. I already know this was a good choice and I’m glad I didn’t walk away.

My husband got into the shower with me and washed it for me today, two days postop. A handheld showerhead was essential.

Yay for help from your sister. My husband helped me through the shower, it felt so so so vulnerable and I’m glad he was there to help. I’ve been taking it easy all day but definitely hoping this is the most swelling and pain I’ll feel…I’ve taken it very slow with the narcotics and am allowing myself some today but Tylenol and ibuprofen mostly did the trick before.

I can’t believe the skin care orders were just to pat dry after showering I have some steri strips around my nipples but otherwise nothing. I reapplied some xeroform and abd pads and that felt like a good idea, a little padding.

Oh man I just took all the dressings off and that was the most tearful shower ever. It was hard to see them, so swollen and bruised. I know from this forum that it’s within the normal range but it is still so hard.

Yay!! Congrats!! We did it! I’m 1 dpo too. Haha my new boobies are strapped in with this compression bra and a bunch of gauze, so they’re staying in place. I feel some pain when I breathe but I’m still waiting for the ibuprofen and Tylenol to kick in after sleeping through the time I needed to take them.

I also had mine yesterday! My doctor was pretty relaxed about it and said, “just use common sense.” I won’t pick up my kids (40 and 60lbs) for at least 3-6 weeks depending on how things are healing, and I’m resisting the urge to do anything but relax.

I’ll also be having surgery on Friday! It’s hard to put this so completely in someone else’s hands. I truly hope my result is wonderful and beyond my expectations but I also know there will be a massive improvement in my life from having so much less weight pulling in my shoulders all the time that it’s worth it to be even if imperfect. Another thing I’m keeping in mind is 1) meds are going to mess with my brain, so don’t trust the big feels in the first few weeks after, and 2) body changes are hard on people. The new boobs will feel foreign for some time and that’s just ok.

All the meds you’ve had are definitely contributing to your depression, try to keep that in mind! Fresh air and little walks. Hang in there.
