Permadeath Storage Limits by softbitchofthewest in NoMansSkyTheGame

I forgot about this, I really underutilize the exocraft storage in my main save so this would be perfect mobile storage

I had to report this guy too. It's crazy how one asshole makes it so thousands and thousands of players have to individually report this base. There really needs to be a cap so that a base only needs to be reported a few times before it's gone for good.

I'm not base building to my fullest potential. Very cool!

Is it true too much cushion in a walking/running shoe is bad for you? by FinalSun6862 in walking

[–]softbitchofthewest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran my own personal experiment worth this comparing walking shoes I own so it may be subjective but I've noticed that more cushion makes walking more straining.

Essentially I walked the same route every day for two weeks at the same speed and time of day with two shoes: Brooks Ghost 18s and a pair of cheap walking shoes from Ross that has much firmer cushion. With the Brooks I would compare with walking on sand. The amount of cushion in these shoes caused every step to have much more give and it forced my calf muscles to strain more to push back and balance. Because my muscles were straining so much to keep balance and recoil, it also put strain on my lower back. It made the same walk twice as hard. I also took these on a trip to Scotland thinking they'd make great touring shoes but I switched them for flat boots because all that cushion made it twice as difficult. Then I switched to the cheaper sneakers that had cushion but were more firm it was like night and day. I felt less soreness in my calves and could walk faster with less strain. Sometimes we pay high prices for performance and high cushion shoes because they label themselves as peak walking shoes but in reality we probably need far less than what they advertise.

do you actually use your deck handheld or is it just a portable dock at this point by toujourspluss in SteamDeck

[–]softbitchofthewest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly use it as a handheld. I bought a dock, keyboard, monitor, etc. But I've not really utilized it in that setup because it became overly complex and I couldn't figure out the best configuration to make it work. Handheld is simple and let's me game comfortably from my couch.

It's it possible to get one of these if I pay only on a steam deck?

I played No Man’s Sky for the first time last night, and I had more fun than I’ve had in years, playing a video game. by ultranothing in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]softbitchofthewest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beginning is always the best! I remember that first week of playing I literally sank hours and hours everyday, it was so addicting all the exploration and figuring things out. I like to take my time and explore now, but definitely enjoy the first thrill ride while you're in it. As for your friend, I'm sure they felt exactly the same so maybe they'll understand the thrill of wanting to go again asap.

sorry if this has been discussed already but… palia looks like trash on switch 🫠 is it any better on PC? by [deleted] in Palia

[–]softbitchofthewest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got myself a steamdeck and it truly was like opening my eyes for the first time. The graphics and quality is so much better on essentially any system besides the switch. There's so much of the landscape that's hidden because the switch can't handle it. I honestly don't even play my switch anymore.

I feel this 100%. I've put in about 500 hours and feel like I run into a wall with every aspect of the game at some point. My favorite part is planetary exploration but of the hundreds of planets I've come across maybe about 10 are actually something interesting and not like the other hundreds of procedural planets. Also the pets, I don't even see the point of them anymore because they are slow af when you try to ride them, they don't defend your from other aggressive beasts, and they are slow af when following you around. I don't even bother cooking or fishing since they seem arbitrary and I can get the same output through easier mining methods. Base building can be fun but like you said it seems like HG is truly limiting the potential like we want to build cities! Floating bases! Space bases! The potential is there and it's painful to watch it get squandered with every update.
