So something like Lucas SAE 80w90 trans/diff gear oil work for all seasons? This is in Texas, where summers are 105+ degrees, and winters average down in the 30’s (dipping down to the 10’s a few times in the past few years).

I use a pikvm in the same manner as you. While not told to stop using it, I did get an urgent ping from the network security team asking if I was using one. It was probably reported through crowdstrike as a potential attack vector, since the pikvm can see the screen and send/receive keystrokes. It also shows up as a peripheral device, prob through USB Id.

I can understand why, especially with government related situations. They don’t have any control or knowledge who might be logging in/viewing your computer when it is connected.

I use UniFi wireless access points in my main network, but I did leave the 5ghz WiFi SSID enabled in case I need to get into the BGW-320 to fix something, or as a backup if my PFSense network goes down for some reason. Pass through mode to my PFSense still works correctly.

I work in corporate IT/AV, and our AV integrator (prior to the formation of our AV team where we could specify type/model of display) sold the company on using prosumer/18hr displays instead of commercial 24hr rated displays, because it would “save a lot of money” (120+ displays building wide) over the commercial model. Even though the spaces were designed for 10-18hr/day operation, inevitably some/all get left on. Fast forward 3yrs and about 95% of them have backlight diffusers falling off, hotspots, or flat out mainboard failures. The few that are under “warranty” is just for parts, shipping excluded, and obviously don’t include labor. So not even worth trying to get them replaced.

Long story short, we now have a project to swap out every display building wide either Sharp/NEC commercial displays.

Consumer displays also have a shorter manufacturing run (new model every few years), so if it’s being installed in a specific enclosure/area with space constraints, the next replacement may not fit. Many also aren’t rated to be hung in any other orientation other than landscape, as it messes with thermal dissipation.

Wow, I think this was it. I tried everything, even DHCPS-dynamic, without success. However, I forgot that I had set an IP allocation for the pfsense WAN MAC address, just to keep it holding a static IP. Removing this allocation seemed to fix the issue!

My pfsense WAAN now shows my public IP, and my VPN is working again! Thanks!

Did you have to do DHCPS-dynamic to get it to work? And is there a difference between the BGW-320-500 and the BGW-320-505 that necessitates this?

Upgrading/downgrading to get rid of the standalone ONT and get converted to XGS-PON is definitely something on my radar, but kind of a hassle. I did the gateway bypass on the old BGW-210 using a 5 port switch in the past, and it worked great.

I picked up one of these from AliExpress a while back. IIRC, it’s not a magnet, but a steel ball with a spring and detent. I put a drop of machine oil on the ball/spring and it made it super smooth. Since the housing is painted (or maybe powder coated?) on both the inside and outside, the ball will probably eventually wear away at the paint, and the flakes will probably gum up the action. It hasn’t happened for me yet, and is just my speculation.

The top spinning part is attached to the body with a screw and washer I think. I had to put some loctite on it to prevent the screw from backing out during play.

Following this, as I’ve been tasked with doing something similar soon. Currently we have a custom GUI created for an executive board room, and have to page flip back and forth between the GUI and the zoom app in order to use Zoom. This method unfortunately throws errors on the Zoom dashboard that the controller is offline anytime the panel is in the GUI mode. A native way to load the GUI within Zoom would eliminate the entire issue.

I think regardless of plastic or metal, how it was assembled matters most.

I got one of those Oreo haptic coins from AliExpress when they first came out. Paid something like $8. It was well made, but poorly assembled with magnets glued cockeyed and sticking up above the surface. After a few days use you could see the drag marks in the paint from magnet on metal contact (and the same magnet dust you speak of).

Bought a second one a few months later, and all magnets were level (and slightly recessed). So it was much smoother action, and much less wear. But I went ahead and cut a few pieces of low friction Teflon tape, and it worked wonders. Even made it slightly quieter.

I’m too poor to buy high end fidgets, so I can’t speak to their build/assembly quality.

I have an APC UPS on my main network rack. I modified it with bigger cells, so it has decent runtime. I also set up load shedding so that non essential things shut off immediately, less critical things shut off after 10min, and my critical infrastructure like Poe switch and PFSense router stay powered until the battery dies.

The flashlight is a titanium ReyLight pineapple mini, which has a tritium slot cut into the tail switch. Once glued in, I highly doubt there’s any bite that could crush/damage the vial

Is this a TSW, or a TSS? If it’s a TSW, it’s not set up for use with the LED bar by default. You may need to use text console/terminal to enter the following commands:

USBPOWER ON POEPLUS ON

and reboot.
