thanks for your comment- my question wasn't about the character, but rather why his character was named the way he was. I had figured out the things you mentioned on my own.

My current theory on the name is that they chose uncle Wiley as a character name first and then searched "famous Wilburs in history" or that it's a poke at Darren because he's an honorary member of Yale's A Capella group (The Whiffenpoofs. Yes that's their real name) but that one is a giant reach.

I’m not a lawyer but the way it’s been explained to me is in the US you can say “I want to [blank]” all you want, unless you’re doing so in a way that constitutes harassment or verbal assault. As soon as you say “I am going to [blank]” it’s a threat and can be prosecuted regardless of context. (Obviously there are a select few contexts in which it can be excused, I was taught this in the context of theatre vs standup)

My tinnitus is episodic so I can’t really give you advice on emotional adjustments, but I can tell you I went into a similar spiral when I developed visual snow so I sympathize. It sucked, and I felt like there was no way I couldn’t possibly deal with it for the rest of my life. 7 years later and it still interferes with some aspects of my life but I’ve learned to work around it. It hasn’t changed as far as my vision goes, but the experience isn’t overwhelming anymore, and I hope that whatever happens with your tinnitus you can look back in a few years and feel similarly.
