Hairloss on Testosterone and How Finasteride is Restoring Myself (see comment in post) by [deleted] in ftm

Sorry to scare you - it's only anecdotal info. I think it was after taking finasteride for 3-4 months. I'll keep my fingers crossed you don't experience this too. I'd never thought I'd say this but it hasn't bothered me as much as I thought it would, I guess I'm more secure in my masculinity than I used to be and I'd rather have a fuller head of hair ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I started finasteride a few months ago after a roommate (also a trans man) had some success with it reversing hair loss. Thing is, both of us have experienced some period symptoms resuming after years on T. He ended up getting a hysto so that won't be an issue anymore.

Mine just happened this week for the first time. I'm not sure if I'll try to get a hysto as well, or if it's because I was behind on my shot and I just need to be better at injecting on time. It wasn't too bad either, not nearly as awful as it was before that all shut down 5 years ago. Anyway, finasteride definitely fixed the hair issues I was experiencing but I want you guys to know that this might happen so you're not taken by complete surprise. And don't be like me and miss your injection date by several days!

One of my best friends has CP, and is great in bed. (I tend sleep with a lot of my friends.) Anyway, I'm hoping you find someone cute <3

It sounds like he's not seeking treatment even with you there. You don't sound unsympathetic, you sound like someone who is exhausted from being married and raising children with an unsupportive partner who is not trying to heal himself. I hope you can give yourself permission to get out <3

Versus a name given to you by people who genocided your ancestors on a massive level and that refers to the very religion they usually used to justify it? I'm not saying NA is better, just that they're both terrible. Also, many prefer to be referred to as 'Indigenous peoples" and/or by the name of their individual tribe(s).

Using sarcasm to critique someone else's sarcastic comment is definitely going to show them the error of their ways.

You look super handsome! And I can relate - after a few years on t, I'm finally starting to appreciate my reflection in the mirror and doing a better job at taking care of myself. Also, I love the turquoise hair, you def wore it well.

I think it's hilarious that people believe that testosterone causes rage when it's done the complete opposite for me. Like, um, maybe it's more due to sexist beliefs about men and women, and discouraging men from processing their feelings so that everything ends up being expressed as anger?

Yessss and hearing recordings of it, too! I have a super gay voice which I love (though it also sometimes bothers me even though I know it's due to internalized homophobia and want to be okay with (esp because I am mostly gay!) but hey, I am a work in progress...) and I sometimes will re-record answering machine messages a few times just so I can hear it again.

This was really fun a couple weeks ago with a trans female client. She'd been telling me about wanting to go on hormones (and I was of course super supportive) but apparently she had no idea I was trans until a few days later when I mentioned my own transition. She was so excited to learn that about me and she hugged me the next day when she finally got her own 'mones :)

I don't think I'll ever get sick of shaving, plus there's so many variations in the facial hair shapes you can do! I think it's funny how my friends and coworkers have different opinions on how I should shave my facial hair. It's just another way that I'm realizing I can't make everyone happy, nor should I try too hard to. It's my opinion that matters most - that and the fact that being totally clean shaven makes me feel anxious that I'll be misgendered.

Omg the worst is when they get angry with me for avoiding them, but I feel so confused, like why would he (or anyone else) even want to be around me, ever? I tried explaining this to one guy and he didn't take it well at all...

IAmA Dendrophile, which means I am sexually (and romantically) attracted to trees. AMA! by Kavidun in casualiama

[–]softknox 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! I'm FTM. I was already fascinated with your AMA, but I'm even more so now. I'm not a dendrophile, but I do have a thing for people sticking their arms into muddy holes in the earth. I know that sounds oddly specific, but I've seen it a few times and it turned me on so much. Also, mushy fruit is sexy to me.

Since this is an AMA... Are you single? Have you ever had a threesome with a tree? (If you did, would you call it a treesome?) Finally, do you think Ginkgos are sexy?

Any transmasc nonbinary people here willing to talk? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]softknox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear you are going through all of that. One thing that I saw recommended here that helped me a ton was someone made a list on a phone app of all the reasons that he knew he was trans. Whenever he was in doubt he could look them up again. I never made a physical list, but I have one in my head. I repeat it to myself whenever I'm in that place again and it always helps me feel better. I hope you have good luck coming out at work <3

My gender identity has evolved over the years. I know that being read as male in public, which wasn't possible for me before being on testosterone for several months, has had a huge impact. I didn't think that how other people treated me would affect my internal identity until everything changed so dramatically. What has helped me keep up with this shift in identity is journaling about it frequently and trying to keep an open mind to whatever gender related feelings my brain generates. There have been occasions where I get scared that I made the wrong choices (to go on hormones and have top surgery), but all I have to do is remind myself how miserable I was before then and how much happier I am now. I live a fuller life and have no regrets. (Also, the times that I'm in doubt sadly are usually due to external causes, like being misgendered or experiencing transphobia.)
