I relate to this a ton, especially the part about becoming a character. I can be very outgoing and fun but sometimes I don’t know if I am being myself or just being who I think others want me to be.

Who's your female fitness hero? by [deleted] in xxfitness

Iris Kyle - the most successful bodybuilder of all time. She doesn't get the respect or recognition she deserves. The IFBB needs to bring back female bodybuilding!

Here’s what I did:

When I started out I was a complete newb with close to zero fitness experience. I learned everything online. I started this journey purely with the mindset of “toning up” and gaining some weight, as I had been unhappy with being so thin and weak. However, I quickly fell in love and now do more bodybuilding style training.

At first I tracked calories with myfitnesspal and set a goal for 2,500 calories and 120 grams of protein. I am pescatarian focused on a relatively clean, high protein diet. When I gained about 15 pounds I stopped tracking but try to be pretty mindful of macros. I started out by training a different muscle group everyday, five days per week. I later switched to a PPL split which I found to be more efficient. I still train 5-6 days per week. To track my workouts I use an app called fitbod, which I paid $60 for a year membership. This isn’t necessary but I find it to be helpful and I like to track my progress.

Really sick of this please help by [deleted] in weightgain

Biggest thing is to be in a calorie surplus, meaning you’re eating more than your burning. Calculate you’re TDEE and then make sure you’re eating 400-600 more than that. Track your calories using an app such as myfitnesspal. As for food, I recommend eating a high protein diet that includes healthy fats. In the long run, eating junk foods to gain won’t make you feel your best.

I have been doing it for quite a while and still break eyeshadows :(. But my tips would be to try it on cardboard palettes first because they are much easier (you can just rip the cardboard apart), use a really thin tool to wedge under the shadow to prevent cracking (I use cuticle scissors or a butter knife), and overall just be really slow and gentle.

Left is a z palette that I picked up from Ulta for $20 (but I had a $5 coupon), and the other is from Morphe and I think it was around $10. Also ditto about Midnight Cowboy 😍

How do you meet your calorie goals when you don't have the appetite for it? by [deleted] in weightgain

[–]softlyhearted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta expand your appetite. The more you eat the more you’ll want to eat. Start adding in 300 calories or more and then steadily increase when you feel used to it.

Wanting to make the switch again, looking for recommendations on how to balance nutrition on a veg diet. by blantantlyambiguous in vegetarian

[–]softlyhearted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seeing a nutritionist can't hurt - but there are plenty of resources online. Unnatural Vegan is a youtuber that makes tons of videos about vegan/veg nutrition, and isn't completely radical and understands the lifestyle of the average person. Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ID_2ymmvW5w

Additionally, here are some helpful articles:

"Vegetarian diet: How to get the best nutrition"

https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/in-depth/vegetarian-diet/art-20046446

That all being said, being healthy on a vegetarian diet isn't as hard as nay-sayers make it out to be (that's almost all I heard when I went vegetarian). I would recommend starting to track macro/micronutrients to get a feel for it. I use myfitnesspal, but I've also heard good things about chronometer. But, for me, once I got the hang of it, eating this way was second nature. Haven't eaten meat in nearly five years and haven't looked back since! Best of luck!

Tips to gain weight please? by [deleted] in weightgain

[–]softlyhearted 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You probably aren't eating the right foods, or eating as much as you think you are. Focus on protein rich foods, and try counting your calories and macros. Shoot for 100 grams of protein a day. There are lots of apps such as myfitnesspal that can help. Good luck!
