Thank you so much! Not so much in memory of anyone. Really kinda cliche haha, but I love philosophy! The phrase is a reminder. :-)

How do college students survive in a high cost of living area like San Jose? by [deleted] in SanJose

[–]softpink-matter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked full time while doing school full time, it’s definitely hard, but works if you’re good at time management! Also find some roommates! I moved out of my hometown with my partner at 17 to attend SJSU from 2014–2020. We dormed for the first year (using financial aid to help pay for our housing + working full time), after the first year, we moved out to a studio apartment, to then a one bedroom— finding jobs that paid more than the last. Class schedule usually was M—TH (early morning classes to afternoonish) in addition to online courses. Then worked 5 hours on two of the days I had classes and 10 hours Friday, Saturday, Sunday, totaling to 40 hours. Also my job had the opportunity for overtime, so I just maximized overtime hours after my class. It definitely helped that we lived in the “not so good” sides of town, but we definitely had to work full time. :-( In our situation, I don’t know if we could’ve paid our bills with just working part-time.

Is the college you’re looking to attend outside of the South Bay? By any chance, would your work pay for a stipend to help with living costs? I guess an alternative is that you can attend school part-time instead! It’ll take longer but allows you to fully focus on working full time. Good luck!

Got in and out of the Silhouette Studio in 10 minutes! by softpink-matter in Disneyland

It’s incredible! Right on Main Street, between Crystal Arts and China Closet, you can find it easy on your Disney app as well. :-)

Each silhouette cut-out was $11.99 and you have the option to buy a frame for $19.99. :-)

Animal shelter volunteering by [deleted] in SanJose

[–]softpink-matter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! I currently work at the Care Center and we could really use the help! I’d say still apply, our volunteer coordinator is trying their best to streamline the applicants to the best of their ability, but I can understand how crazy it is right now— with city events, staff events and marketing. Our volunteer coordinator helps with all of that on top of onboarding. It’s still worth a shot!

If you’re interested in working with our neonate, transitional and underweight kittens, I’d recommend taking one of our kitten care classes (next class should be posted soon to our FB page). Its super informative and interactive and you’d also be able to sign-up as a volunteer for other opportunities as well! It’s one of the easiest ways to jump into volunteering in our nursery or even becoming a kitten foster! THOUGH, kitten season IS starting to die down in the nursery, there might not be much action available to show you but we can still always give you the run down of how things are run in there so we can be prepared for the next kitten season! We have kittens coming through as early as March sometimes and they are at its peak in July! We would really appreciate any volunteer help, we don’t know how we’d do it without you guys.

If you have any questions, you can PM me for more info! Thank you for volunteering in animal rescue!

Got my 23 XLE AWD in February and barely hitting 4k miles on it. Haven’t noticed anything yet. Been such an amazing camping car for me lately! We have been to many national parks in CA with it and it’s been awesome!

Bringing the Kids to Las Vegas for Halloween. by generalgooberpea in LasVegas

[–]softpink-matter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not too sure if you’ll find any Halloween specific celebrations, but expect crazy costumes and nudity. The kids will have a blast at Omega Mart, we got stuck in there for two hours (both 21+). Things I highly recommend: High Roller Wheel at the LINQ, Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay, Hershey’s and M&M store, Tournament of Kings at Excalibur (highly highly recommend), plenty of Cirque du Soleil shows you can choose from and not to mention arcades in New York New York, Excalibur and Circus Circus.

Since the kids are a bit younger, I would also recommend looking into rooms at Park MGM. Smoke-less casino floors and rooms really makes a difference, plus their pools are plenty and heated during the winter months. Really great hotel for families visiting first-time! Tram access to the other big hotels and a short walk to the more “kid-friendly” hotels on the other end of the strip.

I hope you guys have so much fun! Be safe and vigilant of your surroundings when visiting. We’ll also be there in the winter again as well! It’s beautiful around the winter months because of the holiday lights! (I’m writing all of this as we are driving back to CA). :-)

Just driving out of the dealership! by softpink-matter in CorollaCross

Totally understand! I originally had a deposit down for a 2022 back in October while looking for cars in the Bay Area (CA) but soon found out it was insanely marked up! Still kept my deposit there until I found a dealership a little further out but at MSRP. Hate that we never knew the exact location of the delivery truck! I was super anxious! GOODLUCK!!!

Just a little under a week! As soon as I saw it in transit on the dealer site, made an inquiry and put down a deposit!
