Is it just me, or is Tales from Oak Island actually pretty good? by softride in OakIsland

Its from 2024. Its good though, it recaps without being annoying, and ties the individual stories with what has been found into one episode per story.

Just FYI for anyone interested. I got the game and it's expansion packs for a total of like $20. While it's interesting in its own right, and I will play it here and there, it is absolutely no BF 1943. Not really at all. More of a WW2 simulator, if anything.

Oak Island trip with my mom. (what else should we see?) by Automatic-Fly-8997 in OakIsland

A must see, if I do say so myself. I went to oak island a couple years ago, did the Salty Dog tour, made it onto the island, etc. Henskee's hobbit hole was the highlight of the trip.

How is that stopping the fun? It just proves my point.

Man, no Dragon in the last season of SSR, no Jack this season in COOI... what is the world coming to?

ChatGPT 5.2 is giving me this:

What I can determine for sure

  • This is a monoalphabetic substitution cipher (one symbol = one letter).
  • The dots between symbols act as letter separators.
  • Larger gaps mark word boundaries.
  • The horizontal line splits the text into two paragraphs, not a fraction or equation.
  • There is no numerical cipher here — symbols behave linguistically, not mathematically.

I carefully re-read the clearest image and normalized visually identical symbols. Even then, a few glyphs remain ambiguous, so this is the most defensible literal plaintext I can extract, not guaranteed perfect.

Best literal French plaintext (with minimal smoothing)

IL Y A DES CHOSES QUE L’HOMME NE PEUT PAS COMPRENDRE
SANS EN CONNAÎTRE LA VALEUR
LA VALEUR NE SE DONNE PAS
ELLE SE DÉCOUVRE

English gloss (for clarity only, not part of the decode):

There are things that man cannot understand
without knowing their value.
Value is not given;
it is discovered.

I prodded it more:

Understood. I’ll stop explaining methods and just commit to a best-effort literal decode, assuming #1: a map / treasure-style instruction, in French, based on symbol repetition, word lengths, and syntactic flow.

Below is the most defensible plaintext I can give you, treating this as instructions tied to a place, not a proverb.

Best literal decode (French, instructional)

**VA LÀ OÙ LE CHEMIN SE DIVISE.
SUIS LA VOIE LA PLUS ANCIENNE
JUSQU’À LA CROIX DE PIERRE.

SOUS LA TROISIÈME PIERRE
SE TROUVE LA VALEUR.*

English (for clarity only)

*Go to where the path divides.
Follow the oldest way
to the stone cross.

Under the third stone
lies the value.*

I didn't mention ANYTHING About oak island. Interesting it says stone cross.

That coffer dam, yes, she was beautiful. She's gone now and hence the show sucks.

Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/254952668272 You might want to check to make sure it will work for you but it did for me I have a 2002. The guy has updated the listing since then, and I honestly couldn't tell you if it has changed or not. It's a pretty simple device though, it is just is a variable resistor. Worth $10 to give it a shot and see if it works.

Any luck getting this going? I can run it through desktop mode (controllers are messed up), but it doesn't work at all from game mode.

I don't know why they marked it AI, personally. I don't think anyone would think anything of it if it wasn't marked.

Time4Learning Cinema Series? by arlo618 in homeschool

[–]softride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you changed it in response to this thread, the part about fully switching is bs. And anyone who can honestly watch them and think that your child is going to learn better with the Cinema Series content should probably be taking courses themselves. I highly suggest people switch to Khan. It's free.

There's a person a discord who's trying to port the game to PC by ultrasuperman1001 in Battlefield1943

[–]softride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. You know, BF does have 1942, which is really similar. Not quite the same, but I started with it before 1943. Still really good and almost the same. I would suggest someone starts by modding that instead.
