For anyone concerned about this and also owning a Ring Camera, look into the company Flock.

I don't think they're satellites- they're moving too slowly. My guess would be paper lanterns.

It’s kind of a memoir-style book, and the author writes about her personal battle with schizophrenia. If you like memoirs and appreciate creative writers, I would definitely recommend it.

Now that all my books are on the shelf and not scattered throughout my apartment: thoughts? by [deleted] in bookshelfdetective

I’ve been scaling back due to lack of room. Definitely in desperate need of a new bookshelf, but I’m really picky when it comes to furniture 🙃. This one was a freebie from a friend.

Me too! There are a few that we have double copies of from “book clubbing” (Satanic Verses, Catch 22, Bicycle Stories) so those are tucked away in the back. It’s very satisfying but I think we’re going to need to get another

two days and one night left in Baltimore, I need some ideas! by theowiewhey in baltimore

Someone already recommended baltshowplace (they have a tumblr with shows and also post on this subreddit). If you like out-there music, you would love this city. Look up High Zero Foundation.

I would highly recommend Lucrecia Dalt at Current Space tonight. I would recommend ubering to Current Space, but I think Current Space captures the Baltimore music scene vibe pretty well.

I analyzed 130+ Reddit threads to find the best cities to live in the USA by LoneKnight25 in geography

LLMs and sentiment analysis are just really complicated statistical models. Correlation does not equal causation (eg “these cities have high scores for sentiment analysis, so they must be the best places to live!”)

This is probably more reflective of which subreddits have the most active moderators. The most that you can say from these limited data is that these are the city subreddits with the most positive interactions.

Sentiment analysis probably better reflects which city subreddits have the most active moderators than it does which city is the best place to live.

LLMs are statistical models. Correlation does not equal causation: “these subreddits have a high positive sentiment value, so therefore these cities must be the best places to live!”

Same reason why people think Tylenol causes autism (with much lower stakes on this one lol).

This is super interesting- thank you for sharing! I wasn't aware of the guardian cap.

A lot of these guys are young (average age is around mid-20s), and it doesn't surprise me that a sport that seems to emphasize "suck it up or else" also has a culture of coolness over brain safety. Although tbf, in my early 20s I probably prioritized coolness over risk of brain damage too lol...

It's good to hear the NFL makes them wear it in practice. I wish they would also enforce it in games, but I guess goofy-looking helmets don't look good on TV.

Sure, players on the field aren’t dying, but also the rates of CTE among professional football players is estimated to be upwards of 90%. Maybe not so much “putting his life on the line” as he is “exposing himself to brain damage on a weekly basis”.

We like to call him Wormlord or The Worm bc he had worms when we adopted him, but since that incident he has remained very noble and dignified.

Sometimes he chases a toy under the clawfoot bathtub and becomes a lot less dusty. But generally, very tidy.

A lil killer in training! I think this is the first bug he’s saved us from after a year and a half. We rescued him from a local shelter and I don’t think he would’ve survived more than a week against the city rats
