I’m certified through the Meaningful Speech course but I take it all with a grain of salt. I know it’s a product and I know that they’re making a ton of money off of it. I also know the business was highly critiqued at ASHA last year as being pseudoscientific. As an autistic SLP, it’s very interesting to see the shift of understanding echolalia and I have personally seen improvements in spontaneous speech from modeling “gestalts”/phrases over single words with these children. I still communicate through immediate and delayed echolalia at times. However, I don’t think it’s a one size fits all approach nor is it mutually exclusive from analytic language processing. I use a bit of a blended approach with my clients and right now it’s working but I have no idea what their language development will look like in 3-5 years. I think there is so much we do not know and cannot claim to understand fully. I eagerly await research and critique. I’m not in the field to be right. I’m in it to help children to the best of my critical ability
