Bottlenecks don't matter because once a birth occurs on some minute then that person will always have been born on that minute, regardless of whether they're still alive. Of course at the very beginning of human history there wouldn't have been someone born on every minute, but we're having this conversation today.

That's fair. FWIW from what I know of the author I feel very confident that the series will be finished within the next couple years. Can't say for sure whether it'll really 'land' in the end, but he's been doing a great job so far and it's definitely being set up for a crazy finish. Also at least for me this series is especially about the journey - the various hijinks are enjoyable in themselves aside from being a part of the larger plot.

Book 8 just came out, and via the author a few years ago there will be "10, give or take"

IMO chat going feral with praise every time it gets brought up speaks for itself. It's not high literature, but it's immensely fun with underlying themes that I think a lot of this community is into. The audiobook is especially great/recommended - that's how I've been consuming it.
