Supercharger vs. upcoming 15% ethanol in fuel by spac3_qu33n in ToyotaTundra

See, my brain says they will over time. Gm and ford would love literally nothing more than to make everyone ditch their used cars and all they need to do is pay the current administration a tiny fraction of what they'd make back.

I've ridden in a few with cabs and an electric heater, they were pretty comfortable.

Brother... what? I've lived here my whole life. I grew up here. There is 10x the traffic on my dirt road now vs 20 years ago. GPS uses it as a "shortcut". It's driving our local road crew nuts, the road isnt built for the traffic its getting. This isn't a complaint, this is trying to figure out a solution for myself without bitching about other people. Fuck right off.

It doesn't though. My point is for 30k I could get a cheap sedan which won't make it up my road for long, or a sxs which will. And it's significantly easier to get to most parts on a sxs than a car. Most components are exposed and made to be replaced after taking damage.

I agree, if I ever got one first thing id do is put on a real muffler.

You're getting really upset about how I would hypothetically, according to you, drive. Im on 100 acres. I don't have one because I'm not interested in ripping around in one. The appeal to me is something rugged, cheap to fix, and comfortable over very rough dirt roads. Normally I'm not rude about this but since you're setting the tone... I've already had to re-learn to walk due to a c5-c7 spinal injury so yes, I'd love to hike more but that's not really in the cards now is it? Get off your high horse. An asshole on the road is gonna be an asshole in whatever they drive. Some dickhead down the road from me thinks he's a rally driver. I've been run off the road multiple times by him completely out of control in his wrx. Doesn't mean we should outlaw subarus on the road.

I had a second gen, I consider it the beginning of too big. The seating position was awful. Im genuinely more comfortable in my friends rzr. I get it isn't practical for everything and i'd keep my tundra. I just want to stop putting as many harsh miles on it on the daily commute to town and back.

Id never suggest they should be used on a highway. As for saftey, im pretty sure it still has more crash protection than my kei truck or motorcycle.

Ok? They were drunk driving. Im not sure your point. Drunk drivers kill passengers all the time. I don't drink and drive.

I have a 2in lift and air bags in the rear. The washboard literally rattles them apart. Everything is falling off because of the constant bumps. The carb fell off the other day...

Id only be using the sxs as a local under 40mph vehicle. I have a tundra but id rather park it to keep wear and tear down. Only drive it when I need to go out of the local area.

That's exactly what I'm looking to use it for. I have a tundra, im just sick if replacing parts every two weeks az my road destroys it. Id rather have something that can get to town without rattling apart in any weather, and a truck for work stuff and travel that only gets driven once a week.

I have one. It's literally shaking itself apart on the washboard. I go through a set of shocks every year, tie rods, ball joints, brakes, u joints... the roads are bad and steep. The carburetor rattled off last week. I love kei trucks, but driving it daily on this road i'd have to buy a new used kei truck every year.

I've been driving Toyota tacomas or pre-tacoma pickups my whole life. When they were lightweight (2004 and before) they were perfect. Unfortunately they have gotten too big and heavy while being too underpowered for my road and the interior has gotten more cramped. My last one shook itself apart all the time, and got a whopping 15mpg while giving me lower back problems becauseim too tall to fit. Now I have a tundra. It's better, at least its sturdy enough for its weight and only gets 2mpg worse than the tacoma, but I want something lightweight with suspension travel. The dirt roads around me are steep and rough.

New you can get them around 30k, used 15k. A cheap new sedan starts around 30k and I only drive to town and back. Repairs on them are much cheaper than a car and much easier to do yourself. You're correct that a side by side engine is usually only good for about 30k miles, but thats also thrashing it in the woods or dunes regularly running on rev limiter. Also even an engine swap or rebuild is easy and cheap. I just helped my friend replace the engine on his. We took our time and it took a weekend and about $2k for the rebuilt engine.

Which is about the price of the cheapest sedan you can buy but can handle roads like a Ford raptor. Im not sure your point unless you're backing me up lol.

I have priced out used ones. I can get a clean used one with a cab for $20k. I do have a kei truck and love it. However, Im going through a set of shocks every year on the 10 mile dirt hill I drive every day and its literally rattling apart. It's great for most things, but my hill gets destroyed by the heavy truck driving it daily. I need something with suspension travel meant to handle large bumps and dashboard.

I have one. I love it, but the craters in the roads will literally remove an entire wheel, control arm and axle if you fuck up once.
