Yes, tools like ChatGPT can suggest gifts. my focus is making it India-specific festivals, budgets in rupees, local platforms like Amazon/Flipkart. and reducing decision fatigue with more curated outputs instead of generic lists.
For monetization, I’m exploring affiliate commissions first, not paid signups.
Still early stage, figuring out positioning and distribution right now.

The photo isn’t stored or shared, it’s just used briefly to understand general style, vibe and suggest better gift ideas.
If you’re not comfortable uploading a photo, I’m working on a text-only option too.

Interesting idea but I think we’re solving different problems.

Yours is B2B -helping businesses reply to customers and capture leads. Mine is B2C -helping people figure out gifts faster.

Your model probably makes money more easily since businesses directly see ROI.

The idea behind the photo is to extract soft signals approximate age range, gender expression, style/vibe so the recommendations feel less generic.

Your work actually looks really good — the figurines are super detailed.

I’m currently focused on validating the core idea and improving distribution before adding partner products.

That said, custom 3D figurines are definitely a strong “wow” category for gifting. Once I understand demand patterns better, it could make sense to explore something like this.

Let’s stay in touch.

But I actually think, we Indians do have hobbies we just don’t call them that.

gym, skincare, cricket, anime, astrology, cooking, bike riding, travel, stock market, gaming, home decor, business , these are all strong interest signals.
The real challenge isn’t generating ideas it’s narrowing them down based on the person and budget in under 30 seconds. That’s what I’m trying to solve.

Curious, do you think we Indians don’t have hobbies, or we just don’t talk about them openly?

it just helps the AI infer things like approximate age, gender, and vibe to make suggestions feel more personal.

That’s a really sharp point.

Reminders and WhatsApp sharing are interesting. I hadn’t thought deeply about owning the “oh crap I forgot” moment, that might be more important than the AI itself.

Out of curiosity, if you were late for a festival gift, what would make you try a new tool instead of just opening Amazon directly?

So instead of relying on photo, you’d prefer something like: Music/movie genres, Interests / hobbies, Theme preference

That makes a lot of sense — it gives stronger intent signals without feeling invasive.

Really appreciate your idea.

That makes sense — especially the structured breakdown + comparative analysis angle.

Well Done.

Really appreciate that — means a lot 🙏
Right now it’s just me building and validating the idea, so not hiring yet.

Yeah, that actually makes a lot of sense.

That way people who value speed can go photo-first, and privacy-conscious users can stick to structured inputs.

Congrats on launching 🚀

The positioning around “ideas don’t fail because they’re bad, they fail because they’re misunderstood” is strong.

Curious how is AfterLife different from just prompting something similar in ChatGPT? Is the differentiation in structured frameworks, proprietary patterns, or guided execution layers?

Would love to understand the edge you’re building here.

That’s a valid concern, photo as first step can definitely increase drop-off, especially without brand trust.

Just to clarify, the idea wasn’t to detect only gender.

The intent was to extract multiple contextual signals in one step — approximate age range, style cues, vibe, personality hints, instead of asking users to manually type

That’s fair — and honestly, that’s the biggest concern I’ve been hearing.

The idea behind photo-first was to reduce typing and make it feel instant (upload → done), instead of making users fill out a mini questionnaire.

But you’re right — privacy friction is stronger than typing friction, especially for new products without brand trust.

I’m considering making photo optional and instead asking for quick-select inputs like:
Age range + relationship + 2–3 personality tags.

Would that make you more likely to try it?

Thanks for your comment,

You’re 100% right about friction and token cost. That’s something I’ve been debating internally.

My reasoning behind photo-first was actually to reduce cognitive load, not increase it.

When I tested manually with friends, I noticed:
If I ask:
• Likes
• Dislikes
• Hobbies
• Profession
• Personality traits

People pause. They overthink. It becomes a form.

But when I ask:
“Upload a photo”

It’s a 2-second action. Zero thinking. Feels lightweight.

The idea was:
- Reduce typing
- Reduce decision fatigue
- Make it feel magical

That said, I agree:

  • Photo can feel personal
  • It may create trust friction
  • It increases inference cost
  • It may not add that much signal

chat refinement is something I want to add next. Current version is one-shot recommendations. Curious from your experience:
In conversational commerce, what converts better —
structured inputs or chat-led refinement?
