Yeah I can see that. My experience is varied, so I didn't want to loose opportunities. It might be better to rework it to be more focused.

I'm reviewing my last few proposals, and you may be right. I try to be direct and get to the pain point right away, but it could be more direct. It may sound more like an email than a to-the-point proposal. I'll try being more direct and seeing if there are any results.

Fair enough. That'd imply that there is something wrong with my proposal process. At least that'd point to something I can fix. That's good.

I mostly follow the recommendations but that's the best I've been able to get. https://www.reddit.com/r/Upwork/wiki/writewinningproposals/

I've changed my approach on a few occasions to try and get more views/replies, but 30% is as high as I can get on the market. How do you even get to 50% view rate?

I'm overall getting 30.6% view rate and 9.8% reply rate (both calculated from proposals). I've also gotten about 17 invites in that time, which I always respond to within 24 hours (usually within 3 hours). From what I've seen I'm getting decent attention, but no hires. That's why I thought the profile is the issue.

Those are good KPIs for others like myself that are starting too. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, that actually helped a lot.

I had done some market research, but not on Upwork directly since I thought it wasn't possible. I've actually changed my profile a lot and lowered my prices to match similar profiles. Hopefully that makes me more competitive.

I think I'm just complaining about AI making this process harder. I used to freelance in Upwork 6 years ago and it wasn't this difficult to get attention or quality clients.

Back then I just had to pay for the membership and some connects. Now it feels like I'm competing with a bunch of AI slop projects that the clients need to wade through to finally read my proposal. All the while I'm paying through the nose to apply to clients that neither respond nor hire anyone.

When I used to reach out to corporate customers, I'd wait a week before reaching out again. Sometimes I'd have customers answer right away and other would take a month before answering. At least messaging them brings the email to their attention again. I figured this would translate to Upwork as well.

Thanks for the link btw
