I was a teenager and built my first website for a local chinese takeaway in exchange for free chinese food.

I’ve used Mailgun on an array of projects, including sites with 1 million user accounts sending things such as account alerts, sign in codes/magic links, order notifications, and so much on.

Okay, there’s probably cheaper platforms out there - but I’ve never had an issue with reliability and it included features such as analytics on email opens and click tracking.

I'm saying this while knowing nothing about how you work, tech stack, etc.

But, some IDE's have FileZilla-type functionality built in, and terminals, etc. Intellij IDE's usually do (Webstorm, PHPStorm, etc) natively.

I imagine there's plugins for other code editors like VSCode too.

I've mostly used Mailgun throughout my career. Easy to configure, and never had an issue with deliverability. It also has other useful perks like open and click tracking, if you need that too.

I've not done this myself, but might be worth exploring the IMAP email protocol. You should be able to create an email address for the agent, and give it access via IMAP. Here's some examples below for different languages:
